**Sidekick Showcase #5**

Sidekick Showcase (previously known as Sidekick Saturday) is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

This week, Jaclyn has chosen Cowboy as the theme. Once again, I was torn over whether to go literal or metaphorical with this theme. In the end, I went with...

Carter
from Richelle Mead's Georgina Kincaid series

I chose Carter as a cowboy because he's a maverick. He's a greasy-haired, grunge-wearing, chain smoking, ____ drinking angel! He's best friends with an demon. He gets things done and he does things his own way. He's always so witty. And I love him! ;)

"Love is rarely flawless," Carter pointed out. "Humans delude themselves by thinking it has to be. It is the imperfection that makes love perfect."

"Georgina, sometimes I think you might be worth following around, just to hear what you'll say next."

"Even new vampire hunters wise up eventually."

"I forget, Georgina rushes in where angels fear to tread."

"Love doesn't make angels fall, Georgina. If anything, love can have quite the opposite effect."

"No one is beyond being loved."

  1. Carter is a great choice, Brandee! He's funny, and it's true that his best friend is a demon :D And he is way sneaky, too.

Have a great Saturday, Brandee :)

  2. I love Carter! I don't think I would have made it through the series without him. Our favorite succubus stressed me out so much, but Carter offered hope. He's so cool! I haven't figured out my Cowboy sidekick, but you have inspired me with your "maverick" pick! Have a great weekend, Brandee!

The second to the last quote still makes me sigh/swoon.

    1. Yeah, I don't think I would have either, Robyn. He did give me hope...I'd love to see more of him! :) I had to stop looking up quotes because I was just getting sucked into the stories! LOL

    2. Carter is the kind of character who could have his own spin-off series! Have a great week Brandee :)

  3. I love it! I think you would be fun to play Scattergories with because you'd be thinking up things like 'Oreo' for 'O' on the category 'Sandwich' like I do LOL. I haven't read this series yet though I love the Vampire Academy/Bloodlines series so much. I couldn't tell you why. I think I've even bought the first one and just haven't gotten to it yet. Carter sounds like a character that would work his way into my heart when I read the series. The witty sidekick always tends to be my favorite, and those quotes already have me liking him :D Fantastic choice! Thank you so much for sharing! Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. LOL Yes, Jaclyn, I was one of those literature students who would give my thoughts in class and have the professor reply "Hmm, I've never thought about it that way but you could be right" And you MUST read this series. It's really delightful. I started reading it while waiting for VA books to be released! LOL Thanks, Jaclyn!

    2. LOL, I'm the same kind of student right now, Brandee :) And I love it when the professor goes '... you could be right - try to prove it with the text!'

    3. Yet another trait we have in common, Lexxie! I didn't always think it was a good thing when I had a professor say this - when I was in my early 20's. But now I can look back on it with fondness! :)

    1. Oh Andrea, YES, you have to read this series. It's really good I know you don't read a lot of paranormal, but there's just so much humor with this group of characters...I think you'd really like it.
