**Sidekick Showcase #31 ~ Book Boyfriends**

Sidekick Showcase (previously known as Sidekick Saturday) is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type

• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

**********************************
For this month of LOVE, our sidekicks will be of the romantic persuasion...or just plain HOT! Yep, that's right. I'm gonna share my book boyfriends this month. Enjoy it because I don't really like to share. *grins*

My pick is
Fitzwilliam Darcy
from Jane Austen's Pride & Prejudice

Y'all know I love P&P and Mr. Darcy. For me, Mr. Darcy is the epitome of a romantic hero. He was my first love. :) Instead of giving quotes from P&P, I thought I'd share some of my favorite books that have tried to emulate or capture the essence of Mr. Darcy. These are continuations, re-tellings, or just thematically similar stories. You can click on the images to go to Goodreads for synopses. :)

  1. Great pick, Brandee! The cover of the last one got my attention because it's like the exact image you see in the Jane Austen Centre in Bath. I had a very wonderful time there the past summer :)

  2. I just posted mine, I'm so sorry this is the first week I haven't had it up on Friday night. My internet has been down. You can feel the pain of Texans experiencing snow and extreme colds LOL.

This has to be one of the best picks ever! He really is the epitome of book boyfriends. I do hope you watch the Lizzie Bennett Diaries :D I think you'll love them!

I'm reading Mr. Darcy's Diary right now. I've read Letters From Pemberly too and really enjoyed that one. What fascinates me about my love for P&P is that I don't like books that don't have a fantastical/paranormal aspect and I really don't like historical reads... this is the ONLY book that I've tried that I absolutely love that doesn't fit into my normal realm of things.

I hope you are having a great weekend! How's your weather?? You have snow too right.

    1. No worries, Jaclyn! I haven't even been online until today. :) And I remember what snow/cold does to Texans! *ha*

I really hope to make time to watch the Lizzie Diaries, Jaclyn. They sound like fun...and I'd like to see a new take on Lizzie and Darcy. :) I'm glad you liked my pick.

I'm thrilled you're reading Mr. Darcy's Diary and that you enjoyed Letters from Pemberley as well. It is interesting that you love P&P so much despite it not being paranormal. I think P&P just transcends genres...it has to with as many continuations, retellings, re-imaginings, etc. I have Mr. Darcy, Vampyre to read - hopefully sometime soon...so I'll let you know. :)

Yep, we have over 2 ft of snow but I think we're supposed to have a break in the action this week. We're enjoying it though - even if the roads have been trying on the drive to school. :) I hope you've had a fabulous weekend!!

    1. My oldest daughter loves Edward, too, Brandi. He has a special place in my heart, as all Austen's men do. But Darcy - since he was my first - owns my heart. :)

  5. Yes, you must pick Darcy. That's awesome of you to include all those P&P-esque books. I hope you're having a wonderful weekend, Brandee! It actually snowed for real so first thing tomorrow we're waking the neighbors with screeches because we're having a snowball fight!

    1. Thanks, Robyn! Sky agrees - she said I couldn't NOT pick him. I had trouble deciding how to go about this though - and I was in the shower and thought 'OH - I can share all these P&P books'. I'm so excited y'all got some snow! I know the boys had a great time in it. Hopefully none of your neighbors was too upset by the early morning squealing! ;) I've had a pretty good weekend. I think yours might have been better! *ahem* HAHAHA
