Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged ~ #63

Bought, Borrowed, & Bagged is a weekly meme, hosted by TalkSupe, where I share with you the books I have bought, borrowed, or bagged (gifted or won) plus a recap of the previous week's reviews, upcoming reviews, and any other bookishness I want to share. :)

***

Wow! I feel like things are really picking up speed now as we head into the final weeks of school. I do a lot of volunteering for the Instrumental Music Dept at the high school, and I'm quite busy arranging transportation to competitions, as well as getting things read for the end-of-year banquet. My kids are ready for school to be out; however, my oldest is super stressed as she has several AP exams and a college calculus final to complete before she's done. :) We did have an extra day to our weekend since school was cancelled due to the foot and a half of snow. We're now up to 2 feet. But we're enjoying it.

I'm trying to get things pre-scheduled here on the blog since I'll be attending RT in Dallas, TX in 23 days! *squee* I'm so excited. But there's so much to get done between now and then. Oh, and I'm having Lasik this Friday. I'm...well, I'm freaking out honestly. But it's something I really want to do so keep your fingers crossed that all goes well.

How was y'all's week??

Here's what was added to my ereader library this week:

BOUGHT
*Freebies*
E (E, #1)Torn (The Vixen, #1)Seduced (Undercover #1)

Bought ($2.99 Purchase)
Meet Me in the Dark
Yes, I did read this as an ARC but I bought a copy as well. That way, I can lend it to anyone considering giving it a try. ;)

Highlander Most WantedPrimal Law (Alpha Pack #1)
I had an Audible credit I *had* to use or lose, so I grabbed the next in Maya Banks' Montgomerys & Armstrongs series, Highlander Most Wanted. And while I was on Kirsten Potter's page (the narrator for Banks' series - whom I love!) I also grabbed Primal Law because it's been on my TBR for quite a while.

Bagged
The Woman in the Movie Star Dress

I received The Woman in the Movie Star Dress from the publisher via Netgalley for review!

  2. Jessica @ a GREAT readApril 19, 2015 at 6:23 AM

This is the winter that never ends apparently! Great new reads! Totally new to me but I hope you enjoy them all!

And RT!! I so wish I could go this year, but losing my job really put a damper on my life. Sob. I'm hoping maybe in 2017. Next year it's in Vegas and since I did NOLA last year, I'm not sure I'm ready for another crazy city! LOL! It's a lot of fun! Be prepared for no sleep and lots of lines, but TONS of fun! My best advice, if there's a party or panel that you REALLY REALLY want to attend, arrive early! You might have to forgo going to another panel. but you'll be at the front of the line and lines get EXTREMELY long! Which on a second note, pack snacks and maybe protein bars! One year a smaller evening party ran out of food. :(

I always try to get to the Avon party early, because that tends to be the best! That one is a "smaller" party so it's not a night one but an early evening. It'll happen right after the panels end that day. I find it to be the best because usually a lot of my favorite authors are there! It was really huge last year because there were adult and YA authors there! So, again, start the line early! You won't regret it! One of my friends I've met at all the RTs I attend is usually there and I am sooooo blanking on her name at the moment, name badges are a godsend for that place! LOL! But she would always be a minute or so behind me or there before me! She's a librarian too, that much I remember!

    So yeah...HAVE FUN! ;)

    Here's my STS

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. LOL, I'm happy you caved and got The Woman in the Movie Star Dress, Brandee ;) I hope we'll both enjoy it. And like you, I bought MMITD as well, first of all, it's worth it just to read the EOBS, and it was so good I wanted to make sure Huss got my money, too :D
23 days til Texas, huh? I'm writing reviews like crazy these days to make sure there will still be something happening while we're away. I'm pretty sure we won't do much reading or blogging, but we will be laughing, chatting about books and sipping drinks ;)
I'm actually a little jealous your getting Lasik! My cornea is too thin, so I can't do that, but I so want to chuck my glasses. Don't worry about it, I'm sure it will go very well, and you'll be so happy to only need sunglasses afterwards.
Enjoy the snow, and have a great week, my dear. *BIG HUGS*

  10. Sounds like you're busy, but enjoying it, which is good :) I love your new selection of books, they all look positively edible, lol :) And I'm super curious about The Woman in The Movie Star Dress - it looks so mysterious! My week was nowhere near as busy, as my son was still on holiday and we've been all taking it easy. The weather was nice enough to take a stroll in the old part of town and sit down on terraces, sipping coffee and watching the world go by. Well, hubby and I did that, as our son was watching his Nintendo handheld - but what else is new, right? :D Have a great week!

  11. I can't even EXPLAIN how jealous I am that you all are going to meet Berls at RT and I just couldn't go :( Hoping to go to BEA in Chicago next year for finally meet her. So you must promise to give her a big squeeze for me!

Enjoy your new reads Brandee! Have a great week and Happy Reading!!!

  12. Ooh, Summer Break. I wish we had a long break like you. Our Summer holidays are usually only about 5 weeks long and then it's back to school. I can't believe you're still having snow. Is that normal for this time of year? I love the snow pics you posted earlier. We don't get snow where I am. I would have to drive about 2-3 hours into the mountains to see the fluffy white stuff.

Sadly, my Internet has been down for the past three days so I'm a bit slow on the blogging front this week. You got a nice haul of books. I'm trying to cut back on my additions so that I can catch up on a few reads which have been sitting on my shelf forever.

Hope you're having a great week and things arent to o busy. :)

  13. Looks like you got a bunch of goodies. Tots jeals! I am trying not to grab anything but it's sooo hard. Anyway hope you enjoy all your new books, especially your J.A. Huss book.

  14. Oh I want to hear all the details of the lasik procedure-something I always wanted to do as well-too late for me now I guess. RT sounds like so much fun as well-I am jealous!

  15. Always busy, Ramona...isn't that how it typically is for us moms? ;) I'm excited about The Woman in the Movie Star Dress too - I hope I can fit it in soon. I'm glad you were enjoying your son being on holiday as well as the nice weather. I look forward to sitting outside and sipping coffee...soon. :) I hope you're having a great week!! <3

  18. I've been to one other RT, Stormi - in Kansas City. I admit to being overwhelmed. :) But this year I'm getting to meet Lexxie and I'm just sooo excited I can hardly stand it. Of course, I have to get so much done between now and then. :/ I hope you get to go to a convention sometime. It's worth it. :)

  19. I'm really excited about that book, Grace. I hope I can read it soon. :) I used to live in Dallas - I'm glad RT is there so at least the city won't be overwhelming to me. *ha* I hope you're having a great week!

  20. *grins* Nice to know our efforts are appreciated, Sarah. LOL I've only read 1 of Banks' contemporaries but I can't wait to get started on the second in The Montgomerys and The Armstrongs series. It was a great read (listen). It is nice to find fellow romance junkies! :)

  21. I got it from Netgalley, Braine, and it seems really interesting. Clothing holds onto bits of the people who once wore them...a girl gets a dress of a former movie star. Sounds good, yeah?

I'm really looking forward to Dallas because I'm meeting Lexxie!! And it won't be long now. You're right though - it is best to be prepped! :)

  22. I hope we like TWitMSD too, Lexxie. It sounds so interesting. :) I haven't read the EOBS yet because I've been reading furiously and trying to get everything done that needs doing. And, as you know, I don't read as fast as you! ;)
We're down to 19 days now....omigosh!! We're in the teens!!! It's going to be so much fun!!!!
I'm sorry that you can't do lasik. I have to say that I've always been too afraid to consider it. I mean, it's the only pair of eyes I have. BUT for whatever reason, this year I decided I was ready. It's going to be weird though - I've worn glasses since I was a kid. It almost feels like I'm getting rid of a part of my personality. Of course, I'll still need reading glasses, so.... Hope your week is going splendidly! **BIG HUGS**

  23. Thanks so much for the RT tips and tricks, Jessica. I truly appreciate it. I'm really excited to be going this year. Since I used to live in Dallas, I felt like even if RT will be overwhelming, at least the city won't be. :) I'll post all about it when I'm back. :)

  24. This snow is very wet and heavy, Iza. *ha* In the winter, snow is light and fluffy - easy to shovel. In the spring, it has more moisture, which we need, but it makes it very heavy and hard to shovel. But there are 5 of us to do the job! :) I hope your week is going well!!

    ReplyDelete
  25. My boyfriend used to shovel a lot - he was born in the mountains. When he moved out of his parents' home, they bought a snow cleaning machine and he was furious, "why did they wait until I left to do that ?!" lol
