Review & Blogger Chick Chat ~ Boy Toy ~ Jay McLean

When Braine @TalkSupe saw Boy Toy on my BB&B post, she suggested we chat about it since she'd recently finished it. So I did something I rarely do, read a book I'd very recently one-clicked, and we chatted. :) Here's my review and our chat. Enjoy!

Oh, by the way, I have to give a shout-out to Naomi @Nomis Paranormal Palace as she's the reason I one-clicked this one. Thanks, Naomi!

"So...I came up with a plan.

I sat the brothers down and gave them my speech; we'd become male escorts.

The house was split.

The single dudes thought is was great. The guys with steady girlfriends told the single dudes they were insane.

I promised them all we could make it work without hurting anybody. But we had to be smart about it. We had to keep it off campus. We had to keep it a secret. And in order to do so, we had to target those who wanted it kept a secret as much as we did.
Our target: Filthy rich, unsatisfied, horny housewives.

Keep it high class, so to speak.

And thus began BTC, or Boy Toy Corporation.

Crazy, right?

Crazy genius."
-Tyler West.

I love the premise of this series and enjoyed my introduction to it. It was a lot of fun while also delivering a 'meaty' and sweet story, too. Here are a few reasons I think YOU should give Boy Toy a try.

  • Despite sounding like it would revolve around a group of crazy college guys, which it did, Tyler and his story had more depth than I was expecting.
  • A few of the other frat guys we met have me curious and I'm eager to continue the series.
  • I hope we get more details on BTC - it seems like something every typical college boy would think of but they seem to have a pretty elaborate system set up.
  • Allie made me smile once we moved past the games and non-communication  going on between her and Tyler.
  • Ooh - I hope to see more of Mrs. Fletcher. :)
  • I'm crushing on Chase, just a bit. His explanation of why he's still a virgin was swoon-worthy and the girl who captures his heart better be worthy of him.

***Blogger Chick Chat***

The premise alone sold me on this one. Can't you just see frat boys everywhere trying to duplicate BTC's business model?!?

OMG that would be so scandalous! I think single chicks like me... and probably most women... would jump at the chance! I can already see the headlines! lol

I mean it's fitting, young studs with raging hormones. I think someone said something in the book about boys their age being whores so they might as well get paid for it. I have an 18yo old though and I would ground him for life, adult or no, if he joins this type of fraternity.

Yeah, I think that might have been Tyler who said that! I wouldn't want my son participating either but the system they created was genius!

Which client was your favorite? I would say Cynthia with her Wesley Snipes-inspired dildo buuut Mrs. Fletcher's catwoman takes the cake!

OMG Wesley Snipes! How awkward was that scene with the daughter? I mean Mom has needs too but that just got too much, too kinky for me. Thank god for Wesley Snipes! He broke the ice and made things funny instead of weird. And I'm with you re: Mrs. Fletcher. Chick's whack!

I think I was rather mortified considering I have 2 teenage daughters...just thinking about it. Yes, thank god for Wesley. ;)

GOOD LORD! I have a son but for a minute there I put myself in the daughter's shoes. That would scar me for life. (RIP Mom!) What was your favorite funniest scene?

Hmm, I think my favorite funniest scene was actually "the roast" but I did enjoy Troy's stories about his escapades even if we didn't witness them.

Yup, never mess with your bestie.

When we first see Tyler and Allie, I crossed my fingers this story was going to go 'there'. What did you think of them?

I like the best friends backstory. I knew that it's gonna go "there", I was worried on how Allie's going to take the whole male escort thing. Personally, I find it icky. I think Allie took the news TOO well though, don't you think? I mean the whole conflict wasn't about Ty's job but something else.

I completely agree. Allie's non-reaction to Tyler's job wasn't terribly realistic. I *know* would've had more of a reaction. But then again, am I being hypocritical? I mean, I liked Pretty Woman and Richard Gear fell in love with a hooker in that...

Good point. I didn't want her to get hysterical. I guess I at least wanted Allie to ask some questions. Like WHY?? for starters.

Which frat boy do you want next? I'm crushing on Chase but I'm a sucker for a Brit accent so Samshem would be fun. And Troy - I'm envisioning a lot of cringe-worthy moments.

I'd take any! Theirs is a happy, young, crazy, YOLO bunch, you know what I mean? I like that these boys don't take things too seriously. I'm seriously over college drama at this point. When I was in college, things got shitty but I don't remember me and my friends dwelling on bad stuff like some of these people we read about. We were more like these boytoys. Sulk a bit, party and drink the hurts away. Tomorrow will be better.

Yeah! I didn't think about that being one of the reasons I enjoyed this so much - it's about boys for the most part and they don't really do drama. I didn't live a drama-filled life as a college student either but I really like the idea of believing "Tomorrow will be better."

Yup, I like the boys' raunchy sense of humors and their antics. It totally took the edge off some of the scenes. And college should be fun-filled, leave the drama to the adults!

What did you think about Cynthia and her dildo? And that scene? You know the one?!?

;)

(Okay you got to refresh my memory about this "scene") I saw something like that when I went to this sex store. All I can think about is how the fuck can something big like that fit... anywhere?!?! ROFL

Obviously this 'scene' made an impression on me (read: scarred me) because I mention it twice. Must have been the size of that thing. LOL

Heck yeah! A trip to the ER might be needed after that. Gross! πŸ πŸŒ½πŸ†πŸŒ

And Mrs. Fletcher?

Oh Mrs. Fletcher. I love that lady. I mean she was the wild card here. Who would've thought about her hidden room?! I was laughing so hard when she and Ty played!

Right? I was imagining someone with a lot less of a taste for her particular interests. No gag reflex?? Tyler must have thought he hit the jackpot with her. She was hilarious though. And that she offered up her place for Tyler and Allie? That's a generous woman. ;)

I forgot about the no gag reflex! Bwahahaha! Damn that had me laughing crazy when I read that part. Who would've thought?! I will never look at people the same way. Smh

Thanks for chatting, Braine!!

  11. Haven't read this, but it sounds hilarious and highly inappropriate, lol!! Just as the synopsis warns it would be :) But I say as long as that trip to the ER doesn't become a necessity, it's all good. Girls will be girls, and they do need their fun :D Awesome back-and-forth, you two - very entertaining! xx
