**Blitz & Giveaway ~ Positively Mine ~ Christine Duval**

Hey y'all! I'm super excited to be a part of the blitz for Christine Duval's Positively Mine. This book was previously published as Freshman Forty, which I read, reviewed, and adored! If you missed my review, you can read it below. I'm thrilled for Ms. Duval getting a publishing deal. But I'm even more excited because Laurel's story is going to continue! Yay!

I have all the details for the book, an excerpt, my review, and a giveaway for y'all!

Positively Mine by Christine Duval
(Freshman Forty #1)
Published by: Bloomsbury Spark
Publication date: December 19th, 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult

Synopsis:
It is four weeks into her freshman year of college, and Laurel’s first test was unexpected. Discovering she’s pregnant isn’t exactly what she had planned for her first semester, and while she intends to tell her emotionally-distant father, being away at school makes it all too easy to hide.

An imperfect heroine plagued by bad choices and isolated during what should be the best time of her life, readers are sure to identify with Laurel as she confronts teen pregnancy, in secret.

Positively Mine is also available from iBookstore

**Trailer**

“The holidays can be stressful for everyone, but especially if you’re pregnant or just had a baby. As you leave here tonight and deal with potentially difficult people or situations over the holidays, I want you to focus on acceptance. In other words, don’t try to control the uncontrollable, and don’t try to change a person who can’t be changed. People are who they are. With acceptance comes forgiveness, and with forgiveness comes inner peace, and we can all use some of that.”

Her words strike a nerve, and I can’t help speaking up. “But what if the problem isn’t that you can’t accept them, but they can’t accept you?” I ask.

“In what way?”

“It’s like, with my father, I’m the symbol for everything that has gone bad in his life. So instead of us getting closer, he pushes me further away. And now he’s getting married, and he’s about to start a new life with someone, and I’m afraid I’ll never get the chance to show him that I’m a real person, that I exist.”

The entire group is looking at me, staring actually. Kyle is the first to speak up. “But you aren’t giving him a chance to accept you. You haven’t even told him you’re pregnant and you’re five months into it. You push him away as much as he does you.”

“That’s not true.”

Audrey chimes in. “It is, Laurel. You’re nice and all, but you’ve told, what? Two people you’re pregnant, other than us and a couple of doctors. You drive an hour to a support group when there is probably one right near Milton. How much longer are you going to keep this secret? If you told your dad, maybe he’d see that you’re a real person. Real people screw up.”

“Wow.” I wrap my arms across my chest. I feel invaded.

Hmm, what do I want to say about Freshman Forty. It is sweet and poignant. It's frustrating and inspiring. It was an emotional roller coaster, not unlike being pregnant! ;) But in the end, it gave me a happy glow.

Laurel has just begun her freshman year of college. And she's found herself in quite a predicament. One I'm grateful to never have faced. I believe she handles it in a realistic way - in a way that many other 18 year olds might...she hides it. She doesn't tell her dad, she doesn't tell the dad. But she's coping the best way she can.

Although I'd like to think that I'd have handled things differently...I'd have gone to my parents or I would have told the baby's father, I really admire Laurel's strength. She made a life altering decision ON HER OWN. She did what she had to, what she could do. Laurel is not perfect. She makes mistakes, has made mistakes. But she takes ownership of those mistakes in her own way. I think she's pretty gutsy for trying to take care of herself. Even if she might be mistaken about her ability to do so.

I do appreciate the fact that Laurel was fortunate in her circumstances, as not all young women facing an unplanned pregnancy have the options Laurel had. I also believe Laurel was well aware of this fact. She was very fortunate in finding a few friends who were aware of her situation and were very supportive. I enjoyed the friendships Laurel was able to build, with people she eventually felt comfortable enough with to share her problems with. I was also proud of Laurel and her dad for finding their way back to one another. And some of those revelations they each had...I shed more than a few tears.

I would hope that anyone reading Freshman Forty would take away a few lessons. The value of open communication being one. It's a message for both parents and young people. Freshman Forty is an extremely poignant tale that's engaging and well written. It's definitely worth reading.

That One Summer by C.J. Duggan
(Summer #3)
Publication date: December 17th 2013
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Synopsis:
Loving Chris Henderson would be wrong. Diabolically disastrous. I mean, what is there about him to love? He’s moody, bossy, brooding, a control freak, and that’s on a good day … but there was one achingly obvious fact that haunted my every thought, every minute of every day …

He sure could kiss.

As the countdown to the new millennium begins, there is one thing everyone agrees on: no one wants to be in Onslow for New Year’s Eve.

So that can only mean one thing: road trip!

No longer the mousey, invisible, shy girl from years ago, Tammy Maskala is finally making up for all those lost summers. A new year with new friends, which astoundingly includes the bossy boy behind the bar, Chris Henderson.

She likes her new friends (at least most of them), so why does she secretly feel so out of place?

After chickening out on the trip, a last-minute change of heart sees Tammy racing to the Onslow Hotel, fearing she’s missed her chance for a ride. The last thing she expected to meet was a less-than-happy Onslow Boy leaning against his black panel van.

Now the countdown begins to reach the others at Point Shank before the party is over and the new year has begun. Alone in a car with only the infuriating Chris Henderson, Tammy can’t help but feel this is a disastrous start to what could have been a great adventure. But when the awkward road trip takes an unexpected turn, Tammy soon discovers that the way her traitorous heart feels about Chris is the biggest disaster of all.

Fogged up windows, moonlight swimming, bad karaoke and unearthed secrets; after this one summer nothing will ever be the same again.

That One Summer is also available here:

“Guess we better not muck around then.” Even in the night-time
shadows I could tell that amusement lined his face; I could tell simply by the way the words had fallen off his tongue. They were tauntingly suggestive. If he thought it was funny to make me squirm under his penetrating stare, well, I wouldn’t give him the satisfaction.

I lifted my chin. “Keep dreaming, Henderson. I’m not skinny dipping,” I said proudly. “I don’t care how secluded this place is.”

The light of the moon illuminated the brilliant flash of Chris’s toothy smile. “More’s the pity,” he said. “To be honest, I’ll be amazed if you even get in.” He walked right up to the edge of the pool.

“Why wouldn’t I?” I said quickly.

Chris stretched his arms to the sky. “You just don’t strike me as a girl who gets out of her comfort zone much.”

Comfort zone?

My entire summer had been spent out of my comfort zone. This whole trip had been massively out of my comfort zone. But I had done it. Against all my better instincts, here I was. I had even been prepared to potentially do something last night with Chris that was completely out of character. I had wanted him to kiss me – everything in my body language had screamed as much at him. He would have to have been blind not to have understood that much last night, but he had known. Of course he had. Why else would he have spun around so fast other than to avoid me?

I felt not so much the burning of humiliation rising in me, but more the burning of anger.

He didn’t know anything about me. So what if I didn’t want to go skinny dipping? Just because I had some safety-related questions over the creepy, poorly lit, abandoned pool, I was a girl who never pushed the boundaries? That never went against the grain?

Fuck you, Chris Henderson.

My brows narrowed and all of a sudden I hoped that I was illuminated well enough that he’d see just how angry his statement had made me.

I pushed past Chris, my feet slapping angrily against the cool, wet
concrete as I glanced out toward the massive pool.

“You don’t have to, you know,” Chris said, looking uncomfortable. “I just thought that it was kind of a cool place to bring you after a long trip.”

Oh, now he was trying to be nice and supportive?

Underneath the glow of the pool light, I stood close enough to count all the different shades of brown in his eyes, eyes that ticked across my face as if trying to solve the mysteries of the universe through me. Then they lit up, as if at that very moment he had realised what my determined, serious gaze meant.

“Tammy, wait …”

It was too late. In an act of defiance, as he reached out toward me,
without a second thought I dived into the water.

**Blog Tour & Giveaway ~ What's Left of Me ~ Amanda Maxlyn**

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Amanda Maxlyn's What's Left of Me. My stop includes everything you need to know about the book, my review, a teaser, and a giveaway.

_____________________________________________________________

Life works in mysterious ways.
Four years ago I became known as the girl with cancer.
I refuse to cry.
And I refuse to give in.
A relationship with a man is the last thing I’m looking for right now, but one night with Parker changes everything. He is persistent, and he knows what he wants. Me.
He doesn’t treat me like I’m fragile.
But he doesn’t know, and I’m not ready to tell him.
What if it changes everything?
Tragedy found me when I was seventeen.
Love found me when I was twenty-one.
My name is Aundrea McCall, and this is my journey.

*Tissue Alert*
Oh Amanda Maxlyn, you made me ugly cry!

What's Left of Me is a poignant tale of strife trumped by courage and love.

Aundrea McCall began her battle with cancer four years ago. She's about to undergo yet another round of treatment and she's woefully tired of being that poor girl with cancer. Before her chemo begins, her best friend talks her into a girls' night out and it ends up being a night that changes her life. The night she meets Parker.

Parker Jackson is just the distraction Aundrea thinks she needs. Some fun, flirting, maybe some hot sex...all without strings. Too bad Parker has other ideas. And there's also the fact that Aundrea isn't telling Parker her secret...because for the first time in four years, someone, who just happens to be ridiculously hot, is looking at her and see her - not the cancer girl.

Aundrea's story is one that's gripping and emotional. Her courage in the face of cancer is admirable. Seeing her fears and insecurities as she fights her disease as well as watching her struggles with the side-effects of her treatments made her aversion to commitment understandable. Also, since her diagnosis, Aundrea has felt she needed to be strong for her family. Parker lets her be vulnerable without making her feel weak. And seeing Parker, eventually, break through all Aundrea's barriers was even more touching. Aundrea's realization that she'd found someone who truly sees her...well, that made me cry.

Parker is incredible. He is nothing if not persistent. He's patient and kinda and gentle with Aundrea...even when he doesn't understand her unwillingness to let him close. He's also steady in facing the adveristy involved in being in a relationship with Aundrea. I love him and I love them together. They have so much to overcome yet he staunchly stands by her side knowing they'll face whatever comes together.

I really liked Aundrea's sister, Genna, and her husband, Jason. They were a wonderful support net for Aundrea. I also liked Aundrea's friend, Jean, for her ability to know what Aundrea needed and providing it.

What's Left of Me surprised me in its intensity. The descriptions of the diagnosis, treatments, and side-effects enriched the realism of the story. Aundrea's struggle and her strength in facing it was inspiring. And the bond between Aundrea and Parker reinforced my belief in soul mates. This story will make you laugh and ugly cry. But being a part of Aundrea and Parker's journey is well worth the experience.

**I received an eARC of the book, as part of the tour, in exchange for an honest review.**

**Sidekick Showcase #23 ~ So Generous**

Sidekick Showcase (previously known as Sidekick Saturday) is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

**********************************
For the month of December, Jaclyn has given us a some creative license. We can pick any character that fits a Christmas-y theme...angel, elf, jolly, Grinch-y, etc. This week, I finally  decided to go with a character trait that represents that represents Christmas for me...Generous/Giving

My pick is
Adam
from Dannika Dark's Mageri Series

Adam is an incredibly giving person. I mean, he took Zoe in off the streets, fed her, cared for her, gave up his bed for her. He even risked his life to free her from being bound to a horrible mage. He embodies generosity. And he won my heart. :)

"Adam pulled the fragile body into his arms, into his life, and walked into the unknown." Sterling, Loc 400

"Zoe?"
"Yes?"

A finger brushed along the curve of my jaw. "Some men do stick around." Adam & Zoe, Sterling, Loc 808

"Adam turned his chin so that I saw him more clearly. I saw him more clearly than I ever had since the day we met. A man who gave me everything and asked for nothing..." Zoe about Adam, Sterling, Loc 5448
