This month, I'm once again sharing a way to present a gift card. If you'd like more specific information on the "how to", just let me know. I like these little gift card envelopes a lot!

I made gift card-sized envelopes using the envelope maker from Stampin' Up (I can't recall the proper name) and then adhered the envelope to three mattes of varying sizes (using coordinating papers). I embellished the actual envelope with punches which also serve to seal the envelope.

The materials used are paper, envelope maker, punches, stamps, and adhesive. These are pretty easy to make and like I said, I really like them!

I thought it'd be fun to share some Christmas-themed papercrafts with y'all. So this month and next month focus on those. If y'all want more specific information on the "how to", just let me know.

This month, I'm sharing a gift card envelope and gift tags.

This gift card envelope is made using coordinating paper, a scalloped punch, a brad, some ribbon, and some adhesive. It's actually fairly easy and a great way to present a gift card. :)

These gift tags were made using paper, punches, stamps, and silver cord. I think they made gift giving a little more special. :)

Sorry I've been extra-sporadic with this over the last few months...summer. ;) But I have some things to share with you so I'll be posting at least monthly through the end of the year. :)

Those of  you who've been following me for awhile already know this but I head up the Spirit Committee for the high school marching band. And that means that I make locker decorations. I thought I'd share my latest creation - the marching band show is themed "Zodiac". I admit that it took me awhile to come up with something for this theme. I ended up being able to find a paper with constellations on it. I used that as the focal point. I put that on top of some silver glitter paper, and all that on black. Then I used punches, a stamp, and a paint marker to finish up. Here's the final product!

I've been dying to share this craft with you but since it was a gift to someone who reads my blog regularly (my blogger wife), I had to wait until after I'd given it to her. As y'all may or may not know, I got to meet Lexxie @(un)Conventional Bookviews for the first time in real life last year at RT in Dallas. We had lots of pictures and since I scrapbook (along with my bookaholic friend, Denise) she and I decided we'd make Lexxie a scrapbook with the pictures we took there and also add in pages for her to use for our trip to BEA this year. Here are a few pictures at a 2-page spread we worked on, as we were working on it.

Here's a few pictures of the finished product:

Denise and I were really happy with how it turned out. And I *think* Lexxie loved it. :D

I'm sharing another craft this month that is quite useful is you have many books (like I do) and you lend them out. This is my version of a bookplate.

I got the library cards and sleeves from a local school supply outlet. I'm pretty sure you can find them online though. The stamp set is from Stampin' Up and is called Property Lines. So I, obviously, stamped the sleeve and/or card and then adhered them to the front (blank)page of my book.

I also had my daughter, Sky, design bookplate stickers using my bookworm (which she also designed):

I had these printed from VistaPrint, I believe.

I thought I'd share a pretty yet utilitarian craft this month. I made these decorated lunch pails using lunch pails (of course ;) that I got at either Michael's or Hobby Lobby, paper, ribbon, ModPodge, and embellishments.

I cut the paper to size, typically using 2 different patterns for the 'body' and a coordinating pattern for the top, inside the top, and on the bottom of the pail. The paper doesn't always make it all the way around the pail, so I use 2 pieces per pattern and put the seam on the side. I cut out a place for the latch in front and on the top, I cut out around the handle parts and have a seam in between them. I use ModPodge and a 1 inch foam brush to adhere the paper to the pail. (I use the glossy kind but you can use matte if you prefer.) Once that is dry, I put a ribbon around the middle to cover the seam between the paper. I also tie ribbons on the handles. And lastly, I adhere an embellishment of some sort. Here's how it turns out:

I mentioned they're not only pretty but also utilitarian...I use them to store bookmarks I've made, like the one below, as well as for cards I've made.

I'd originally planned to share something else this month but my anniversary was last week and I really like the card I made for Hubs, so I decided to share it instead. ;)

I started with an 8.5x11 piece of paper and cut it in half. Then I used a bone folder to crease the paper to create the fold. I used some paper scraps, in a pattern I adore, for the stripes at the bottom. I also used buttons - the big ones already had adhesive on the backs but for the smaller ones, I used foam adhesive so they'd 'pop' from the page. Then I picked a paper scrap in a coordinating color for the writing, and using my Big Shot and Script alphabet, I cut the letters for the words. Voila! A cute card that Hubs appreciated. :D

As an aside, if y'all have been following me, I recently quoted Rock Chick Redemption in a Thirsty Thursday & Hungry Hearts post, where Hank took Roxie to the Buckhorn Exchange for dinner. Hubs and I went there for dinner on our anniversary. :) I didn't have alligator, but not because I think they're cute. I *did* have a delicious steak dinner though and the ambiance just can't be beat in Denver's oldest restaurant. Here are a few photos from inside...
