Synopsis
‘A thrilling and delicious story of love and self-discovery woven around a broken romance that will make you turn page after page and cheer to the end.’

Love, life, loyalties. Nothing stays the same when Emily gets drawn into the world of rock.

Glossy and sophisticated professional high-flyer Emily has no time for nonsense such as the rock music her ex-boyfriend Nate adored so much. Yet when she unexpectedly comes into possession of VIP
tickets—access all areas—for new rock band phenomenon, MonX, she can’t resist the temptation.

The fateful gig turns into more than one night, and Emily finds herself strangely drawn to this new and unfamiliar glittery world. However, only weeks later, MonX and her own universe fall apart with devastating consequences for all. When MonX lead singer Mike appeals for her help, she reluctantly embraces a new opportunity. But she soon discovers that while she may be a rock chick after all, a groupie she is not... Or is she?

Just exactly where do her loyalties lie? And what direction will her life take now that she’s left behind everything she treasured?

Warning! Fallen for Rock contains some explicit content and strong language that may not be suitable for readers under eighteen years of age.

Fallen for Rock was such an entertaining read. Watching as Emily grew and matured was fascinating. And having a front row seat to witnessing the birth of a band? Awesome!

Emily Trenden is a brilliant career woman. She makes difficult yet smart decisions daily in her job at an investment bank. She didn't, she now realizes, make a smart decision in dumping her boyfriend. And she's also realized her focus on her career has left her rather lonely.

Enter Mike Loud and MonX. Emily - or rather her ex, Nate - won tickets to see the phenomenal new band, MonX. There are only a couple of problems - no Nate and Emily has this little issue of not liking rock 'n roll. At all. She attends the concert in an effort to win back Nate, and ends up meeting Mike. Mike Loud is the lead singer of MonX. He's an incredible musician and a charming, kind man, as Emily soon learns. And that's not all he teaches her. The fallout surrounding events in both their lives causes Emily and Mike to enter into a partnership. It's this partnership and spending much time with Mike that helps Emily learn a lot about herself, about love, and about the value of friendship.

Although Nate isn't actually present for most of the book, Emily really pines for him. He's described as a nice buy but I couldn't help rooting for Mike as I got to know him much better.

The journey Emily embarks on towards love, friendship, and fulfillment was captivating. She learns what's truly important to her. She finds her called. And she finds love. Seeing her blossom into the completely different woman - one who used the skill set she'd honed in a unfulfilling career AND found she adored rock music - was compelling.

Fallen for Rock was fun. But it also touched on some deeper topics. Ms. Wells does an excellent job of creating engaging characters along with a charming story. I don't know that we'll see more from Fallen for Rock but I wouldn't complain about getting more of Mike. ;)

Hi Nicky! Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself?

HI Brandee! Thanks for inviting me on your lovely blog today. My name is Nicky Wells, and I’m addicted to rock stars. I can’t help it. I have an incurable ‘thing’ for rock musicians. They just ‘do it’ for me. Bad boys and golden voices, tough men with long hair and soft hearts.... *swoon* That’s why I write the books I do. Particular faves include Jon Bon Jovi and Joey Tempest. I’ve recently discovered Myles Kennedy too!

What do you do when you're not writing?

When I’m not lusting after rock stars or writing books about young women who lust after rock stars, I’m a wife, a mother of two boys, a lobster eater and pizza lover, a cook, a trained teaching assistant, an occasional knitter, and a radio presenter at Siren 107.3 FM. I’ve got my own show now, too, which is called Books Rock!, and airs at 11 am on every third Saturday. Just saying!

Is there any particular author or book that influenced you in any way either while growing up or as an adult?

Where to start? I usually cite Enid Blyton at this point because she acquainted me with the delights of addictive serial reading. I remember picking up Famous Five books from the bookstore and the library from about Year 2 in primary school. I had to keep it a secret from the teacher because we had been told not to ‘work ahead’ in our official class reading book, but I’d finished the whole thing and got bored, so I started reading ‘proper’ books! I loved the feeling of getting immersed into someone else’s world, into adventures and excitement. Soon I branched out into reading children’s fantasy and sci-fi too and I read everything in my local library. So yes, I’d have to put the fault for my love for reading at Enid Blyton’s feet!

Why are readers going to love Fallen for Rock?

Fallen for Rock has something for (almost) everyone. It has romance and glamour, some hot scenes, and it is gritty and edgy in places and feels very real. I like to write books that are within the realm of the possible even though they feature illustrious, famous men. It’ll appeal to people who love their rock stars, but also to folks who’re not necessarily into rock but attracted to modern romantic fairy tales.

Fallen for Rock is a steamy, dreamy and realistic romance between a rock star and an ordinary mortal. At the same time, it’s a story of complete self transformation, carrying the message that your life can be whatever you want it to be. And last but not least, it’ll make you feel good when it’s finished, and that’s a promise!

Is anything in the book based on real life experiences or is it all purely imagination?

Fallen for Rock is purely a product of my imagination. However, that’s not to say that I didn’t do my research about the rock music industry and, more specifically for this book, about music publicity.

To the extent that my writing was informed by the research, it is based on real-life experience, if not necessarily my own.

Inevitably, the characters may have traits borrowed from real people I know or have observed, and they may experience one or few events that may or may not have happened to me. But nothing and no one is based on any one real life person or event. Rather, I take fragments of reality, re-cast them, repurpose them to suit my need, and mix them all together in a new combination.

Why rock 'n roll? What is it about music that makes you want to write about it?

I’ve already confessed to my ‘thing’ for rock musicians, so let me expand on that a little here. I am endlessly fascinated by the rock music industry. I love the rush of excitement that a rock gig brings, the power of the music to take you out of your everyday life.

Apart from experiencing rock gigs myself—in front of the stage mostly, but a few from behind the scenes—I’ve watched every rock movie—fictional or autobiographical—I could lay my hands on and read a stack of biographies to boot. The rock industry provides a fabulous setting for romantic novels, comedies and suspense thrillers alike, and it helps elevate the excitement of an ‘ordinary’ romance to another level altogether. The rock star injects an element of the fairy tale into the story—you know, the poor girl and the prince, today’s twenty-something single girl and the rock star, there’s a similar magic here. It’s a rich, fabulous and never-ending source of inspiration, and I have many more books up my sleeve yet.

What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?

That’s a tough question, and I had to go away and have a cup of tea to contemplate it because I enjoyed the entire story from start to finish—from Emily’s initial disdain to her conversion to the tour and everything that happens afterwards. But there’s one scene that sticks out, now that you’ve prompted me. I do remember giving Emily a series of high-fives when she’s out talent scouting with Mike, and she wraps the hot-shot manager around her little finger. I hadn’t actually planned that scene in great detail at all. She was just kind of going to meet him in passing, but Emily had other ideas, and I found her putting in an elaborate subterfuge to arouse Iron Dave’s interest, get him to approach her (as opposed to the other way round), and really ‘own’ the conversation. I didn’t know she had it in her, and I was ever so proud. This was a really, really fun scene to write.

**I really enjoyed watching Emily 'do her thing' in this scene as well!**

What project are you working on now?

Lol, just one? I’ve got three in the queue, and that’s just the ones that have reached the planning stage! But for now, here’s the blurb of my Christmas novella, which is fully written and due for release in October or November 2014. While it is a sequel to last year’s ‘Spirits of Christmas’, it is also very much designed to be read as a standalone.

Fairy Tale in New York

When rock star Jude gets stranded in New York with his family on Christmas Eve, he has no idea that he is setting in motion a chain of events that will turn their Christmas into the most magical one yet...

No good deed goes unpunished, or so it seems to Jude and Carrie on the morning of the twenty-fourth of December. The previous day, they gave up their return flights to London to enable a distressed passenger to make a swift journey home in their stead. Today a spectacular whiteout is grounding all planes, and Jude, Carrie and baby Maya are stuck.

Tired, hungry and just a little panicked, Jude loads his family into a cab and returns to their hotel. But their room has been let, and the hotel is fully booked. Snow is falling heavily, and the family is facing a very bleak night indeed.

How do you celebrate Christmas far from home, with no place to stay, no food, and no presents?

Join Jude, Carrie and Maya and a cast of colourful characters in this fairy tale story of Yuletide in New York.

Thanks again for inviting me to your blog today, Brandee, it’s such a pleasure to be here. I hope your readers enjoyed meeting me, and I’ll pop back again to answer any questions. Meanwhile... rock on!

**Reviews ~ Red & Wolfe Parts 2 & 3 ~ Ella James**

Red & Wolfe, Part II (Red & Wolfe, #2)Red & Wolfe: Part 2 by Ella James
Red & Wolfe #2
Release Date: May 21, 2014
Genre: Erotic Romance
Source: Purchased ecopy from Amazon
Rating: 4.5 Bookworms

Synopsis
Return to Rabbit Island for the erotic second installment of Red & Wolfe, the sensual story of exiled playboy James Wolfe and writer Sarah "Red" Ryder. This is an erotic fairy tale inspired by Little Red Riding Hood.

I know this is an erotic fairy tale inspired by Little Red Riding Hood, but I never know what to expect and Ms. James keeps shocking me!

Part 2 picks up right where Part 1 ended. And it gets hotter. *fans self* But this installment not only turns up the heat but also reveals a few things - not only for the reader, but for Red and Wolfe as well. And I had no inkling the story was going to go in this direction.

Red and Wolfe have an immediate pull toward one another. And in letting Wolfe in, Red realizes how lonely she's been. And Wolfe, despite his desperate need for privacy, finds himself unwilling to part with Red too soon. It's interesting to see how much these two need one another, even without knowing one another that well. I'm quite eager to see where this is going to go from here.

Red & Wolfe, Part III (Red & Wolfe, #3)
Red & Wolfe: Part 3
Red & Wolfe #3
Release Date: June 19, 2014
Genre: Erotic Romance
Source: Purchased ecopy from Amazon
Rating: 5 Bookworms

Synopsis
Return to Rabbit Island with Red and the illusive Race for the hottest serial installment so far. I'd bring at least two pairs of extra panties if I were you.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and compare Red & Wolfe to a dessert. Part 1 was the crust - the foundation of the story. Part 2 was the sweet stuff - the cream filling. Red & Wolfe Part 3 would have been the topping - what finishes off the treat. Only Part 3 is just the next delectable layer in this scrumptious confection. Because there's a Part 4 coming! And I know it's going to be the crumb topping with a sweet drizzle and maybe a cherry! ;)

Okay, enough of my analogy. Part 3 was more meaty than Part 2 (sorry for going back to a food analogy - I can't help it!) We get a little more background on Wolfe, which was enlightening. I enjoyed getting to know more about him. I'm also relishing the dual POV. Getting both Red's and Wolfe's perspectives adds depth to the story.

There's also this intense magnetic pull between Red and Wolfe.
"...I've already gotten far closer to him than I've ever been to anyone."-Red, Loc 356
"Should I be pushing her "on" button just because I can?It doesn't matter.I'm not going to stop.Not as long as she's here.I can't help myself."-Wolfe, Loc 400-406
And the steam level - wowza! Red and Wolfe definitely got down and dirty. I'm not sure where their story is going to end up, but I have hopes. :) I can't wait for #4!

Clutch (I Am Just Junco, #1)Clutch by JA Huss
I Am Just Junco #1
Release Date: October 1, 2012
Genre: New Adult Science Fiction
Source: My mom was gifted a copy
Rating: 5 Bookworms

Synopsis
How long can you lie to yourself before it all comes apart?

In 2152 the avian race is on Earth looking for something stolen from them decades ago – their genetics. At the center of the search lies the Rural Republic; a small backwards farming country with high hopes of military domination and a penchant for illegal bioengineering.

19 year old Junco Coot is the daughter of the Rural Republic’s ranking commander. She’s the most foul-mouthed, wildly unpredictable and ruthless sniper the Rural Republic has ever trained. But when her father’s death sparks a trip into forbidden places, she triggers events that will change everything she knows to be true.

As an elite avian military officer, Tier’s mission is to destroy the bioengineering projects, kill Commander Coot’s daughter, and return home immediately. There’s just one problem. Junco isn’t who she claims to be.

With no one to trust, not even herself, Junco must confront the secrets of her past and accept her place in the future, or risk losing herself completely.

CONTENT WARNING The I Am Just Junco series is NOT YOUNG ADULT. This series contains foul language and graphic violence.

***Sky's Review***

Hopefully everyone knows just how much my mom loves Ms. Huss’ books; I’m here to say that she is absolutely justified in her veneration. Having just trudged through Schindler’s List and The Bluest Eye for school, I desperately needed a break from the super deep, dark, and disturbing realms of literature, and picking up Clutch was the best decision I could have made. It was the perfect balance of action, mystery, suspense, adventure, and, romance for me, and it made me want to keep reading like a book hasn’t in over a year. I haven’t really made the time for independent reading for probably a year now, and it was so refreshing to have a book that I actually couldn’t put down. This book really brought the concept of reading for pleasure back into my life.
Junco Coot is such an exciting character, and she really keeps the story driving. There is a whole lot of mystery surrounding her and her family, which is made apparent from page one, and I have a feeling that we still don’t know everything. I admire Junco because she doesn’t let anything stop her, no matter how formidable the obstacle is. She’s been through much, much more than the average person could even imagine surviving -- although, of course, Junco is no ordinary human.
Tier is an alien of questionable motives, and he and Junco’s relationship is built off of hesitant trust and healthy skepticism from Junco. In the end, though, I suppose he was a “good guy;” he helped Junco out numerous times. I’m excited to see him develop in the next books. Beyond Tier, there was a whole cast of side characters which are woven well into Junco’s adventure. For the most part, they serve to enhance Junco’s journey of self-discovery -- and the majority of them factor into plot twists throughout the story.
Overall, the book was fast-paced and eloquently written, incorporating cool sci-fi elements and fascinating avian mythology to add the the many plot twists. Clutch was fun to read because Ms. Huss made it basically impossible to gather any sort of idea of what was going to happen next; any and all conceptions are proved incorrect time and time again. I join my mom as a member of the J.A. Huss fanclub and highly recommend her books, as reviews are insufficient to describe her incredible writing capabilities. As I said, this book was important for me, and I wish to share the experience with other readers.

What inspired you to write Stupid By Choice?

First of all thank you so much for having me as a guest on your blog. I truly appreciate it! Your question of wanting to know what inspired me to write Stupid By Choice is a great one, for though overall it is meant to be a fun “escape” read into the lives of the “privileged wealthy,” I was also first inspired to write it because I wanted to explore some serious themes that I hoped people could learn from.

Two of those themes are from the saying, “Don't be fooled by the fiery wild stallion of love and the silver saddle of vast wealth,” which I heard often growing up, for I was fortunate to be born into (and continue to stay living in) this upscale world the book is set in, and I see the effects money can have on people constantly. But people with means can trick you and hurt you just as much as those without it—not always, but often. So I felt it was important to show in a story how no one should be completely influenced by money, both in life and in regards to relationships. Always remember that appearances are just that, only “appearances,” and you never really know what is underneath them. It can be very enticing and alluring to belong to exclusive country clubs and attend private galas with a handsome, charming, sexy man—but keep in mind that it could all be a total façade. (Even if his family is hosting the party!)

The main character of Melanie St. John is totally caught up in this “glamour” of both the men and the worlds in which they live when she first meets each one throughout the book; the fabulous parities, exclusive after parties, romantic get-a-ways, etc. But after one week of marriage to one of them—on her honeymoon, actually—she realizes she made a huge mistake.

Creating this kind of huge mistake in the main character’s relationship journey was done for a big reason too—I was highly inspired to write this book for my daughter so I could try and show
her how to not make the same stupid, foolish choices with men that I saw way too often growing up in my particular social circles. This book is fiction, but I’ve witnessed some pretty sad (and funny) things about dating and marriage in this elite world while also raising my daughter in it. I thought writing about it could help her (as well as all women) think very carefully before saying “I do.” I think it’s hard for anyone to find healthy, lasting love in any environment, but hopefully with some help through some examples of what not to do through Melanie’s relationships I truly hoped people would learn how to choose more wisely and “love smarter” overall.

Lastly, I was also inspired and encouraged by many good friends to write about this particular world and character I created, for we all knew there were lots of situations (both comedic and dramatic) that we had all seen too many times that could easily be recreated in a fictional story set in this environment. It was not easy, for I am not a trained writer and this book took four long years to complete, but now it is finished I am very proud I stuck with it. I hope anyone who reads Stupid By Choice enjoys it (and hopefully learns something from it)!

Leighton Summers is a sixth generation Texan who has traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe her whole life. During her travels she was always surrounded by interesting, successful (and often eccentric) people who encouraged her to find her passion and live life to the fullest. Writing novels always intrigued her, and so one day while in New York City she took out her laptop in a café and decided to jot down some notes about how a female character
created from her own world could “love smarter.” Over the next four years the notes turned into both funny and sad adventures of a woman’s quest for finding friendship, love, self, and family and she weaved them all together into this, her debut novel.

Visit the website StupidByChoice.net for more information about the book.

**#COYER Review ~ Love, Lex ~ Avery Aster**

CoyerSummerVacation

Love, Lex (The Undergrad Years, #1)
Love, Lex by Avery Aster
The Undergrad Years #1
Release Date: April 14, 2014
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Source: I received a complimentary copy, via Xpresso Book Tours, in exchange for an honest review. I also purchased my own ecopy from Amazon.
Rating: 4 Bookworms

Synopsis
This summer, I'd planned to celebrate my eighteenth birthday in Europe with my fellow Manhattanites - Taddy Brill, Blake Morgan, and Vive Farnworth - until I caught my boyfriend screwing my mother. According to the police report, this vomit-inducing incident happened around the same time I'd supposedly blown-up my mother's penthouse. Like I'm walking around Soho with a stick of dynamite in my Louis Vuitton purse - not! Now, my besties and I are in jail.

Office Ford Gotti, the Harley-wheelin' biker cop who arrested us, keeps sticking his perfectly-sculpted nose into my case. His inked body is jacked up like a superhero, and he says I can trust him. He wants me to fess up. I won't. Not again. Why should I? My friends and I had a previous stint in juvie that nearly destroyed us. I gotta protect them and keep my mouth shut. Right? -Lex Easton, women's studies major, motorcycle enthusiast, and virgin.

The Undergrad Years is a New Adult contemporary miniseries about first loves, independence, and everlasting friendships.

Reader warning: Contains mature content intended for readers 17 and up.

Love, Lex is currently **FREE**

Having read Unscrupulous and thus being familiar with Lex, Taddy, Vive, and Blake, I was excited for a glimpse into this quirky quartet's early years. And I enjoyed the peek I got in Love, Lex.

Alexandra 'Lex' Easton is the daughter of famous parents. That, along with her full-figured appearance, have made her the butt of many jokes and a target of the paparazzi. With her 18th birthday looming, Lex has plans to spend her special day in Paris, with her besties. She is also planning on having over Lady V to her boyfriend. But when she finds her boyfriend and her mom in a compromising position, things get out of control.

Love, Lex is pure escapism. It's a fast-paced, entertaining read chronicling a moment in time that forever changed Lex. It also provided some brief glances at the events that tied together these four individuals forever. It's also a no-holds barred, shocking, sometimes raunchy, sometimes sexy look at the lives of children of the rich. I likened The Manhattanites series (Lex & Co all grown up) to Sex and the City, and I have a feeling The Undergrad Years will coincide with that assessment. I'm looking forward to the next installments.
