Tattoo Thief (Tattoo Thief, #1)Tattoo Thief
Tattoo Thief #1
Release Date: October 8, 2013
Genre: New Adult, Contemporary Romance
Source: Purchased on Kindle
Rating: 4.25 Bookworms
Goodreads ~ Amazon ~ B&N

Synopsis
22-year-old Beryl doesn't know why Gavin Slater trashed his penthouse, abandoned his dog and fled the country. But as his house sitter, she must pick up the pieces for the front man of the white-hot rock band Tattoo Thief.

When ultra-responsible Beryl confronts the reckless rock star, she wants to konw more than just what to do with his mess. Why is he running? What's he searching for? And is he responsible for the death of his muse?

New York newbie Beryl must find her footing in Gavin's crazy world of ultra-wealthy to discover her own direction and what can bring him back.

Steamy, sassy and tender, Tattoo Thief is a story of breaking from a comfort zone to find a second chance.

I think this is one of the most unique love stories I've read in awhile - mostly because the MCs fall for one another without ever having met in person. Their relationship began with them each having preconceived notions about the other and gradually grew into something more real and meaningful then either had ever experienced.

Beryl once dreamed of adventure - the kind she experienced with her dad. But after losing him, and her mother basically withdrawing from life, Beryl has lived safely - always planning, planning - and never living. When an opportunity presents itself - to actually starting living, to have an adventure, she swallows back her fear and takes the leap.

Beryl is a character I really identified with. I admired her making an adventure for herself. I enjoyed seeing her grow - seeing her ideas, how she formed opinions of people and things, change. She made bad decisions and mistakes, but she learned from them. I also liked seeing her influence on others.

I also liked seeing Gavin grow - take responsibilities for his actions and start to mold his life into one he both wanted to and would be proud to live.

One thing that stood out to me was the contrast between Beryl and Gavin. They came from different backgrounds. They were living vastly different lives - Beryl was barely living while Gavin was living it up rock-star style. Then Beryl decides to run towards life while Gavin runs away. "Equal and opposite."

I was planning to give this 4 Bookworms but as I'm writing this review, I'm realizing how this story affected me. It's really closer to 4.25. :) It's not flawless but there's something that's so real about the story and it resonated with me. Tretheway's writing is smooth and she's created characters that I enjoyed spending my time with...that I look forward to meeting up with again.

My TBR List ~ May ~ What Should I Read Next?

MyTBRList

My To-Be Read List is a meme hosted by Michelle @Because Reading. I think it's a fabulous idea because it gets y'all in the game and it helps me knock off some of the many, many books on my TBR list. You're more than welcome to join in the fun! I've included the basic rules below but you can click on the graphic above to hop over to Michelle's site where you can find all the details.

Here's how it works:
On the first Saturday of each month, I will make a post with three books from my TBR List (these books can be already on your ereader or bookshelf OR books you might want to purchase) and add your link on the linky that will be provided on Michelle's post. Y'ALL will help me choose which book I will read next. The following Saturday, I will announce which book won. Then the last Saturday of the month, I'll post my review.

Fun, right?!?

This month, I'm having y'all pick from a few books I've one-clicked thanks to your recommendations! As I have many, many books thanks to you, my good blogging friends, I'll probably do this a few times throughout the rest of the year. This month's choices are thanks to: Naomi @Nomi's Paranormal Palace, Lexxie @Unconventional Bookviews, and Jennifer @Donnie Darko Girl.

Dating a Cougar (Never Too Late, #1)Dating a Cougar
Never Too Late #1

Synopsis
After several decades of looking for true lover and never finding it, aging model and lingerie designer, Alexa Ranger, has finally give up the search. A couple of years ago, she got tired of the game completely and just stopped dating. Now friends and family keep her mostly content, so it's shocking at 50 yrs old to find herself suddenly wanting a sex life again. It's even more shocking to be attracted to a much younger man this time. She definitely thinks medically retired Marine, Casey Carter is sexy, but can't get passed their twelve year age difference to even consider a fling. Not that it matters anyway, anything resembling a normal dating relationship is totally out of the question because Casey is related to and living with her daughter's boyfriend. The very last thing Alexa needs is yet another talk-show worthy drama in her already complicated life, no matter how amazing Casey's kisses make her feel.

Synopsis
Once upon a time, my life was certain: it was insignificant, and it was cruel. But I refused to let it define me, no matter how great the cost.

Once upon a time, I made a wish. The world I knew grew wider than the sky and higher than the stars, and I listened to the voice within me, reaching out for freedom.

Once upon a time, my wish became my fate, and my destiny the hardest lesson to learn: kindness may be the most difficult path, but it can save entire kingdoms.
