Sidekick Showcase (previously known as Sidekick Saturday) is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type
• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

March's themes revolve around the Oscars and St. Patrick's Day. Since the Oscars are this weekend, I'm going with that theme. I came up with something I thought was an awesome theme - but I had a hard time coming up with a character.
My theme is SNUBBED
My choice of character:
Jacob Black
from Stephenie Meyers' Twilight Saga

Jacob was a pretty obvious choice, no? He's kinda like Leonardo DiCaprio...it doesn't matter the caliber of performance he gives, the Academy still snubs him. Jacob did everything he could think of to try to win Bella. He was always there when she needed him, to lend a shoulder to cry on, to share information - sometimes unwittingly - to build a motorcycle with. And every single time, he was snubbed.
Well done, Brandee! And yes, poor Jacob was totally snubbed by Bella. And he deserved much better - but I kind of think he actually deserved more than Bella.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header! You need to tell Ms. Bookworm it's truly beautiful!
I hope you're having an awesome weekend. Here, it's spring-like for real 46F, and we did a BBQ for lunch. I hope the nice weather will stay, it's so nice to see the sun! *BIG HUGS*

*ha* Jacob had to grow on me, Lexxie. I kinda felt like he was whiny! *haha* I guess in the end, he got better, huh?
DeleteThanks so much!! I passed along your compliment to my graphic designer. ;) She's still working on it but she's having computer problems at the moment, so it'll be a little while.
*BIG HUGS*
Great choice, he was pretty doomed. I like the new look as well
ReplyDeleteYeah, he kinda was. Thanks, Brandi!
DeleteI loved Jacob for Bella. He was much funnier than Edward and funny lasts longer than pretty, plus he was pretty too! And his monster was a big fluffy wolf, vs. a steal hard fanger. But did Bella listen to my counsel? Awesome Sidekick post, Brandee! The quotes took me back. I hope you had a wonderful weekend!! Here's to an awesome week!
ReplyDeleteUhh, Robyn...you know Edward is a vampire, right? And therefore his looks aren't going to change?!? *grins* I must admit I was always Team Edward, but that's just me. I'm sorry that Bella listened to my counsel over yours but, there you have it.
Delete<3 U, girlie!!
Aw, poor Jacob. I wanted Bella with Edward, but I did adore him. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI liked him too, Andrea but Edward was always my choice as well. :)
DeleteJacob was totally snubbed! He was my favorite character in the whole series :)
ReplyDeleteReally?!?!? Well, I liked him but he had to grow on me. *ha* But he was totally snubbed, poor guy. I guess I just prefer broody over brash. :O)
DeleteAh! I love your take on this theme. Snubbed is fantastic. Jacob is definitely the perfect choice. I LOVE the quote pictures you have!! I also can't miss the Leonardo and Academy Awards reference - hehehe you know I love him. He will get 'em some day. Jacob gets his too thankfully because he really deserves someone wonderful. How did the kiddos do in their competitions? Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jaclyn! And poor Leo...snubbed AGAIN! What does the guy have to do?!?
DeleteJax's musical was brilliant! :) And the girls competitions went well. Winter guard took first place! :)
