**Think Out Loud #13 ~ On Crafts & Broncos**

Welcome to Think Out Loud, a weekly meme hosted by Thinks Books. This is a meme where you can post about anything and everything you want...no rules! Make sure you link up over at Thinks Books, too.

As y'all probably know, I live in Colorado. Around here, it's Bronco-Mania! Denver hasn't been to a Super Bowl since 1998, so it's BIG news. And we're all United in Orange. :) So I thought I'd share with y'all a local business who painted its building orange for the occasion. It made my family giggle. ;)

I went away last weekend for a couple of days. I stayed at a friend's house, and a few other friends came by and we spent time crafting. I worked on making cards, which I'm going to sell as a fundraiser for my daughters' winter music activities. I thought I'd share them with y'all. What do you think?

Book Synopsis
What does it mean to love? How does one defy death? And will people pay good money for your Friday night fish fry? These are some of the mysteries facing West Coast food editor Wendy Whitby when she reluctantly returns to her childhood home in Weewampum, Wis., to await her mother’s demise. But cantankerous Seal (Cecilia) refuses to pass into the Great Beyond according to schedule. While Wendy waits for Seal to expire, Wendy begrudgingly helps out her two high school pals, flamboyant Amber Moore and reticent Merribeth Hartwell, who have opened a restaurant in downtown Weewampum.

Wendy and her friends soon are embroiled in their hometown’s political feuds. Some of the well-heeled citizens, including Merribeth’s father, have decided they want to close the town’s hospital downtown and move it to a spiffy building along the interstate. But the women feel the downtown will deteriorate even further if the old hospital shuts its doors, so their restaurant, Amberosia’s, becomes the headquarters of the Stop the Hospital Move campaign.

After Amberosia’s burns to the ground, the women are convinced someone set the fire to scare them off because they oppose the hospital move. However, Fire Marshal Warren Caramel suspects the women torched the place to collect the insurance money. The threesome realize they’ll have to solve the arson case themselves to avoid spending the best years of their lives in Waysippee State Prison for Women.

As their arson investigation opens old wounds, causes new ones, and reveals secrets that maybe should have been left concealed, the women are forced to grapple with such issues as: How much does a friend do for a friend? How far does family allegiance go? What is the price of family, and especially, mother-daughter love? What are the magnetic and repelling forces of one’s hometown? And, of course, how much will someone pay for a plateful of fried lake perch?

When Margo Wilson was 3 years old, she thought an elevator operator was about to squish her imaginary friends, Keke and Frick, in a department store’s elevator doors, so she screamed for the operator to free them. The operator complied, while Margo’s mom shook her head, and Margo beamed like a superhero. The incident still is the ultimate example of how Margo’s imagination influenced reality, and it helped hook Margo on the power of inventing her own world.

But the daughter of a police officer and elementary school teacher is nothing if not practical, so Margo chose to be a journalist, a career in which facts and information, presented in compelling ways, often have a chance to influence others’ actions. Margo worked as a staff writer and editor at nine newspapers, ranging from the Spruce Grove Star, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, to the Los Angeles Times. Her words led to the defeat of a racist school board member, the resignation of some greedy community college administrators, and publicity for an unknown recording artist who later became one of Margo’s best friends. Margo learned that words have power.

She also learned that words have beauty. So she returned to school (Goddard College) to polish her creative writing skills and as a result, landed a job teaching writing at California University of Pennsylvania and snagged a book contract with Ramsfield Press.

These days, she’s working on a memoir about travel and taking a journey, and a series of novels about a dog who ... well, let’s leave that a secret.Although she grew up in Wisconsin, Margo has lived in Indiana, Canada, and California. She makes her home in Southwestern Pennsylvania, with her flat-haired retriever (Well, maybe that’s what she is. The vet is not sure.) Moosie, and her cats Oreo, Lucy, ChaCha, and Mimi. They are forever using their imaginations to devise new ways to persuade Margo to feed them or pet them.

**Release Day Blitz & Giveaway ~ Entangled ~ Ginger Voight**

The first 2 books "Enticed" & "Entangled" to Ginger Voight’s newest series "The Fullerton Family Saga" are NOW AVAILABLE and we don't have to wait to long for the conclusion of this series - Book #3 will be released in March!!!

Rachel Dennehy had a crazy thought. If she could just start over somewhere else, she could forget about her sad and tragic past and all the ghosts that chased her. When an email landed in her inbox, to tutor a difficult student whose father just happened to be the CEO of one of the biggest companies in the nation, the apple was a bit too enticing for Rachel to refuse. She moves from Texas to Beverly Hills, where she is tasked with turning around her wealthy pupil’s bad attitude. It is a bad attitude that stems almost entirely from his parents’ ugly divorce and even uglier custody battle.

That her new boss Andrew, or Drew, Fullerton is one of the handsomest and most eligible bachelors in the world means nothing to Rachel. She has absolutely no plans to ever marry or have kids of her own. Her priority is teaching nine-year-old Jonathan, who needs her guidance and her direction and... most importantly... her friendship.

Drew’s brother, Alex, however, assumes otherwise. He basically accuses her of being a gold-digging opportunist upon their first meeting. This sets the two immediately at odds, though they both have young Jonathan’s best interest at heart. Alex believes that Rachel is a “ringer,” a wholesome alternative to edge Jonathan’s socialite mother out of the running for custody, since she left Drew after her own salacious affair with a younger man. He wastes no time in telling Rachel that as long as she stays in her job, she will keep Jonathan from his real mother, and that is the driving force behind Drew's interest.

Unfortunately the more he tries to warn her away from Drew, the closer he ultimately propels her toward her charming boss. Drew never questions her motivation or her presence because Jonathan thrives under her tutelage, and Drew is beguiled by her no-nonsense attitude that challenges him from the start.

Rachel navigates these choppy waters solely to protect Jonathan. She sees the adults in the family as self-serving; most of whom are far more interested in hurting each other than taking care of this fragile, vulnerable boy. Her heart traps her into this sticky web, despite her own history of loss and betrayal. How long will she last? More importantly, what will she be required to give to save these Fullerton men who continually tug her in three different directions?

The saga begins with the first book, titled “Enticed,” due to release in early 2014. Author Ginger Voight returns to the dream-making landscape of Los Angeles, in a new tale that throws back the curtain on the dangerous power, appeal and excess of the privileged. Only by the time this tale is done, one principle character will pay the ultimate price as they all race toward that elusive happily ever after.

The saga continues for Rachel Dennehy, the tenacious small-town teacher caught in between two compelling, powerful brothers.
****This is Book 2 in the series. Blurb may contain spoilers for Book 1.****
In Book 2 of the Fullerton Family Saga, teacher Rachel Dennehy heads back to California to save her favorite little boy from his rapid downward spiral. She feels responsible for Jonathan's destructive behavior, knowing it was her broken promise that sent him off the rails. She moves in with Alex, a man who had been her nemesis for so long. Thrust together with the shared goal of saving Jonathan, they find more in common than they had realized.
In fact, it is Alex who comes to her rescue Drew confronts Rachel over her “betrayal.” The chemistry still burns hot between them, but Rachel cannot forgive Drew’s cruel deception. Unfortunately he is unwilling to let her go. Drew Fullerton doesn't like to lose, especially to his younger brother. So he proceeds with his plan to win her back, using every trick in the book to force her hand, including his son.

Young Jonathan holds fast to his dream of a real family, which tears her in yet another direction. Her heart is torn between the three Fullertons, all of whom need her in very different ways. Someone is going to get hurt, no matter what she does. She struggles to do what is right, even when she finds it puts her at direct odds with what she wants.

How far must Rachel go to win back Jonathan’s trust, and protect the men she has grown to love?

Ginger Voight is prolific author, freelance writer and optioned screenwriter. Her fiction is diverse, with novels like the edgy, coming-of-age drama DIRTY LITTLE SECRETS, and the fun family adventure for kids of all ages, COMIC SQUAD.
Having grown up reading different authors like Danielle Steel and Stephen King, Ginger has always been drawn more to story than to genre. This shows up in her various stories. Titles such as MY IMMORTAL and TASTE OF BLOOD are a delicious, heady mix of horror, suspense, and romance.

Genre romance, however, has held a special place in her heart, ever since she read her first Harlequin novel when she was only eleven. As a result, Ginger is making a name for herself writing romances of her own, starring women who look more like the average American woman rather than those traditionally represented in the size-biased American media. Her Rubenesque romances were created especially for those heroines with fuller figures, who can still get the man of their dreams if only they believe they can. Such titles include UNDER TEXAS SKIES, LOVE PLUS ONE, THE GROUPIE TRILOGY, THE FIERCE TRILOGY and PICTURE POSTCARDS.

Ginger was included in the best-selling book by Smith Magazine NOT QUITE WHAT I WAS PLANNING, featuring her six-word memoir.

**TEASER**

“Enjoy your ‘me’ day?” Alex asked.
I felt my face flush and I cursed the knowing glint that shone in his eyes. “It was lovely,” I said.

“I bet,” he murmured as he studied my face. “Same time next week?”

I nodded and followed him to the front door. He stopped just before I could shut the door behind him. He looked as though he wanted to say something desperately, but debated doing it right up until he opened his mouth. I’m not sure even he knew what he was going to say until he said it. “Maybe next week you and I can spend the day together while Jonathan visits his mom.”

My eyes opened wide as I processed his unusual proposal. “Are you asking me on a date?”

“You’re single, right?” he asked. “You’re available, no prospective suitors. Nothing going on,” he probed. “Why not?”

“Other than the fact I don’t like you?”

He laughed. “You don’t like me because you don’t know me. Let’s rectify that.” His eyes narrowed as he surveyed my face. “Then maybe next weekend I can be the one who causes the blush to rise in your cheeks.”

I glared at him and stepped backward. “Goodbye, Alex,” I dismissed.”

Ms. Voight had delivered another compelling read. Enticed has an engaging story and complex characters. And I thoroughly enjoyed my introduction to the Fullerton family.

Rachel Dennehy is an extremely likable character. She's a teacher who gives her all to her students. She's warm and aaring. Rachel has suffered tremendous loss as well. And despite looking like a timid wallflower, this girl has some pluck. She's strong, independent, and opinionated.

Drew Fullerton is the head of Fullerton Enterprises. He's the type of guy who sucks all the air out of a room upon entering. He's handsome, commanding, and about to become one of California's most-eligible bachelors. And he has a young son suffering in the fallout of a messy divorce.

Jonathan is Drew's 9 year old son. He's intelligent, mature, sweet and he won my heart as well as Rachel's. As a child of divorce myself, I empathized with much of what Jonathan was feeling in regards to his parents' divorce. He broke my heart at times. I loved watching hi come to life with Rachel.

Rachel and Drew meet when Drew offers Rachel the position of private tutor to Jonathan. Rachel, being from small-town Texas, gets quite an education in living among the wealthy. She and Jonathan quickly attach to one another. It also seems that Drew becomes attached to Rachel as well. And although she has misgivings and all her internal alarms are blaring, she can't seem to fight the intense attraction she has to him.

Adding tension to the story is Drew's brother, Alex. The brothers do not get a long as Alex has shunned the family business for what he feels is it's soul-corrupting tendencies. These men are like oil and water when mixed. Alex tries his darnedest to run Rachel off. He feels Drew is using her to win sole custody of Jonathan and that Rachel is a gold-digger. His intentions seem less than altruistic where Rachel is concerned. But when the bombshell is dropped, I was certainly reconsidering.

Enticed is, of course, well-written and nicely paced. Ms. Voight didn't let me down as she's once again delivered an engaging story with well-developed characters. I'm most impressed with Rachel - a heroine who's remained strong despite her circumstances. And her bond with Jonathan was heartwarming. Enticed also illustrates the suffering children can go through when a divorce occurs. And Ms. Voight did a fine job portraying the Fullerton family dynamics. I'm anxious to learn more. I can't wait to finish book 2, Entangled.

**I received an eARC of the book in exchange for an honest review.**

**Cover Reveal ~ Captivate Me ~ S.J. Pierce**

I'm thrilled to be a part of the reveal for S.J. Pierce's Captivate Me. I've read Ms. Pierce's Alyx Rayer Chronicles and I'm excited to check out this YA offering. I rather like this cover. The couple is familiar and I like the vine in the corners and the title font. What do y'all think?

This reveal was organized by Xpresso Book Tours.

Captivate Me by S.J. Pierce
Publication date: April 1st 2014
Genres: Paranormal Romance, Young Adult

Synopsis:
“My mom had always told me – when you meet “the one”, you’ll know; they’ll captivate your heart the moment you lay eyes on them. I had always wondered, though, if my mom’s words of wisdom were finite – if they applied to everyone. Maybe those who had found their one great love were the lucky few, and maybe the rest of us would have to settle for less than earth-shattering.”

Seventeen-year-old Kat Walsh is a Gifted – a human with paranormal abilities. With her mom a former Angel and her dad a dream prophet, it’s always been in her genetic make-up to be extraordinary. Unfortunately for her, the world can’t handle the strange or unusual. So when she slips up and uses her powers at her high school in Ireland, the entire student body treats her like a freak – even the ones she thought were her closest friends.

Broken, but hopeful for a fresh start, she allows her parents to enroll her in a boarding school buried deep within the forests of a small Colorado town. At Midland Pines, School for the Gifted, she feels as though she can finally be herself; she makes new friends and even has the attention of the most popular guy in school – Levi. Everything feels normal again… or does it?

Not long after her arrival, weird dreams of an alluring boy whom she’s never met surface during the night, and the eerie, shadowy trees encircling their school seem to call to her. As these disturbing, yet enticing developments intensify, other bizarre occurrences happen – students and staff turn up missing, and mystery visitors leave gifts while she sleeps. With all of these other things vying for her attention, a desperate Levi has to fight even harder to keep her interest. But with the dreams of the attractive boy slowly captivating her heart, Kat has to make a choice – will she settle for ‘great’ Levi, or will she search for her elusive dream visitor, possibly stumbling across ‘amazing?’

From the author of the Alyx Rayer Chronicles, comes a refreshingly different Young Adult series with plenty of love, suspense, and a new take on the Paranormal.

Recommended for readers 16 and up due to mature content.

**Sidekick Showcase #29**

Sidekick Showcase (previously known as Sidekick Saturday) is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by Jaclyn at JC's Book Haven. There are many secondary characters that are as great as the primaries. In some cases, the sidekicks actually steal the show and you like them better than the heroine or hero. Maybe they didn't have enough page time for how great they were. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Choose a sidekick *or someone other than the hero or heroine* that you would like to put in the spotlight that fits in this week's type

• Share a picture (if possible) and information about the character
• Give the title and author of a book the character can be found in
• Please don't include too many spoilers when describing why the character is such a great sidekick
• Put your link in the Linky thing and comment

**********************************
For the rest of this month, Jaclyn is having us pick characters we love but are in need of a New Year's Resolution.

My pick is
Cormac, Werewolf-Hunter
from Carrie Vaughn's Kitty Norville Series

I picked Cormac because despite his sexiness, he could stand to be a little more accepting of...well, other species. ;)

When we first meet Cormac, he's called into Kitty's radio show to let her know he knows what she is, and that he's coming to kill her. Fun guy, no? But Cormac is sexy, loyal to the extreme, and worth getting to know. He may even learn to temper his feelings towards werewolves by the end of this series. :)

***

"...All right, I've got lots of calls waiting, so let's move right along. Cormac from Longmont, hello."

"I know what you are."

"Excuse me?"

"I know what you are, and I'm coming to kill you."
-Kitty & Cormac, Kitty and the Midnight Hour

"I'm glad you're not the type to shoot all werewolves on principle."

He may have actually smiled at that, but it was thin-lipped and fleeting. "Just give me an excuse, Norville."
-Kitty & Cormac, Kitty and the Midnight Hour
