Thursday Nights (The Charistown Series, Book #1)
Author: Lisa N. Paul
Genre: Contemporary Erotic Romance
Release date: May 13, 2013
Book Summary:
“Pain can leave even the strongest of people weak and hollow.
Max DeLucca has spent seven years trying to forget the betrayal of his past. He lives his life from day to day never looking forward and never looking back. The walls around his heart keep anyone from getting too close and prevent him from feeling too much… until he meets her.
Her entire life, Janie Silver searched for the kind of love that wouldn’t leave her broken and more importantly, wouldn't leave her behind. She longs for a love that can heal the wounds of her past and give her the future she knows she deserves. She thought she was looking for something that just didn’t exist…until she meets him.
Danny’s on Main is where their story begins. A neighborhood bar where strangers become friends, friends become family and some … become lovers … it all started on Thursday Nights”

Thursday Nights opens this series by introducing the cast of characters who inhabit Charistown. It's a lively group, all with strong, well-defined personalities. The epicenter of this group is Danny's on Main, a local bar where the locals, and our characters specifically, gather. And every Thursday night is ladies' night out for Janie Silver and Lyla Dalton. There they meet to dish on their week and be among good friends.
Janie, a middle school teacher, moved to Charistown with her best friend, Lyla. Janie has led a less than charmed life...a painful childhood followed by an adulthood filled with a string of bad romances, looking for real love. She finds trust difficult to come by. But since coming to Charistown, she seems to have found a family that she loves and that loves her. And she's been able to open up about her past.
Max DeLucca...breaks my heart! He's led a somewhat charmed life. That is until he met his wife. The experiences he endured while married have left him so scarred and empty. He also finds it difficult to trust and rather than deal with his past, he just never looks back. He does find joy and contentment when hanging out with Janie...on Thursday nights.
Watching the relationship grow between these two broken souls - how it mended their souls - was enchanting. It's not an easy road they travel, but the reward seems worth it. And, of course, they have their friends - their "family" to help them along their journey.
This is a sweet and spicy read. (*fans self*) Max and Janie are characters you can't help but root for. My only complaint would be that I had a bit of a hard time connecting with Janie. I think it was because I didn't get to hear her story from her...we're told about it and that she's shared it with Max. But we learn more about Max's story than Janie's and I felt a little gipped, I guess. But I was still in her corner. I wanted her to have her happy ending. And in the end, I adored these characters. I can't wait to return to Charistown.
