I'm Seth Tyson and this is my story.
I deserve a happily ever after, don't I?

Dear Juliet is the third book in the Forever Family Series and if you missed my reviews of Dear Emily or Dear Tabitha, you can read them by clicking on the titles.

With Dear Juliet, Stiles comes full circle with all the characters we've met in the Forever Family series. This was a poignant and remarkably told story. It tied together all the plot threads and left me very satisfied.

After meeting Seth in the two previous novels, I had mixed feelings about him. I felt for him in some ways but in others, I was unsure about him. I appreciated getting his backstory in Dear Juliet. To know about his childhood, his family history, the loss he suffered -- it all enabled me to get a better understanding of him. I also enjoyed the history between Seth and Juliet. Seeing the progression of their friendship over the years added an organic feel to the story.

Juliet broke my heart. She had a wonderful and loving family and home as an adopted child. But she had trouble with feeling accepted and wanted because of being adopted. Luckily, she'd always had Seth and another boy, Jeremy, as her best friends by her side. However, when she suffers a catastrophic loss, it sends her into a downward spiral that she has trouble pulling herself out of.

This story was so heartwarming. And it wasn't until reading Dear Juliet that I connected all the dots and realized what Stiles did with this series. She tied together the stories of a family who adopted a child, a family who gave up children for adoption, and a girl who was adopted. She did so deftly and in a way that had me emotionally invested in all their stories. Seeing how adoption affects all those involved was enlightening. There was one thing Stiles did in Dear Juliet that I wasn't sold on. However, after reading her afterword, where she explained why she did this thing, it made sense to me. And that's one thing I like so much about Stiles' writing -- it's so real. The situations, the emotions, the reactions, etc., are all realistically conveyed. I am thrilled that all the characters I've met found their forever families.

  2. It looked like something that wasn't for me : it's too emotional, especially these days... But reading your review ? I thought I would be missing something if I never got to reading those books. That's what is great with blogging and sharing/exchanging, you learn about and want to read books you would never have thought about in the first place ;)

  12. Oh, I cried in all three of them, Naomi. I guess I'm a sap?!? Yeah, my feelings toward Seth did change since I was given his backstory. It really helped me understand him sooo much better. And I loved that he and Juliet had this long history together, having been friends since elementary school.
