Synopsis
I had the perfect life; an awesome job in advertising, a gorgeous high rise apartment, and a flirtation with the guy down the hall. Then it all came crashing down. Two months later I was a cocktail waitress living in a tiny one bedroom apartment. I had also developed a serious 'men suck' attitude.

That all changed the night I met the beautiful and enigmatic Conner Savage. But there was just one little problem...he said he was a vampire. Figures a man that hot would be batshit crazy. Or so I thought. It didn't take me long to realize that Conner wasn't a nut job and that I was addicted to him.

With every moment we spent together he drew me deeper into his world and the supernatural culture in which he lived.

Now I had a choice: the vampire I craved or a normal life. Couldn't be easier, right?

What a fun and exciting introduction to Wood's world. Donna and Conner are a fiery couple and besides seeing their romance bloom, the vampire societal intrigue was fascinating.

Donna is a pistol! She's working as a cocktail waitress after being fired from her job in advertising for trying to expose her boss for embezzling. She meets Conner after her rescues her from some unsavory men. Of course, she questions his sanity when he admits to being a vampire.

Conner is very interesting to observe. He's an alpha male for sure. Unfortunately, the woman who just might be his soulmate chafes under all that alpha-ness. Good times ensue. He's also felt alone in the world for a very long time. And meeting Donna has given him reason to feel again. He has much to learn about courting a woman but he's a quick study.

Donna is mouthy and at times crude. It's hilarious to watch as Conner has to reign her in to meet with vampires' more cultured manners. But you've gotta love a man who'll accept his woman, quirks and all.

But Bite Me isn't all fun and games. There's vampire societal intrigue afoot as well. And Donna gets herself caught up in it simply by falling for Conner. Bite Me was suspenseful, sexy, and fun. I am eager to continue the series.

"You are an amazing woman. I could not have chosen a better place to let my heart rest than in your hands."

In this scene, Conner and Donna found themselves in a situation, not of their choice. This was Connor's way of declaring his love for Donna. And I thought it was really sweet.

Thirsty Thursday and Hungry Hearts - (un)Conventional Bookviews

"I drank the rest of my bourbon, the warmth from the liquor spreading throughout my body. I was beginning to feel even more buzzed. Between the wine I had at dinner and the liquor I was drinking now, I was headed straight toward drunk. I realized that would not be the smartest decision I could make with an actual vampire in my house."

I'm not much of a liquor drinker, unless it comes in colorful colors, possibly with little umbrellas ;) but I'm thinking I might hit some bourbon if my date confessed to me he was a vampire.

  5. Connor's quote is really sweet, Brandee! And while I'm not really a bourboun drinker either, sometimes you just have to get some hard liquor to deal with things, right?
Your count-down tells me there's only 33 days left! I'm getting giddy thinking about it! *BIG HUGS*
