**Mini Reviews ~ Gentlemen Prefer Succubi & Stray**

Happy Friday, y'all! I thought I'd dig through some of my book journals and share a few reviews of books I read prior to blogging. These aren't full-blown reviews because I basically only wrote down my quick thoughts on books at the time. I hope you enjoy them! :)

Gentlemen Prefer Succubi (Succubus Diaries, #1)You can click on the cover image to go to Goodreads for a synopsis. I chose to share this mini review since I shared Remy in my Sidekick Showcase for this week. Here are my thoughts:

I thoroughly enjoyed this debut novel! It had the right mixture of action and humor. Jackie wakes up one morning in a dumpster. As it turns out, she's become a succubus. She happens to find the Serim (Noah) who helped in her creation (unknowingly) and he introduces her to Remy - another succubus, to help her learn about her new life. Jackie also meets an angel, Uriel, who promises to return her to her former life...for a favor. The adventure that follows leads her to meeting Zane, her vampire creator. And now Jackie has two 'boyfriends' to contend with. Life as a succubus keeps getting more and more interesting.

Like I said, lots of humor in this book. There are poignant moments, too. And it was plenty suspenseful. I look forward to the next book in this series.

Stray (Shifters, #1)You can click on the book cover to go to Goodreads to read a synopsis. I chose to share Stray with y'all since it was first Rachel Vincent novel and she won me over! She's an auto-buy author for me.

I loved, loved, loved this book! Faythe is an awesome heroine and I was happy to see her evolve somewhat through the course of the book. At first, she seemed spoiled but she was coming into her own by the end.

Ms. Vincent's creation of werecat society was fresh and fabulous. It's totally believable that 'strays' in pride territory is something they'd encounter and have to deal with. And the pride hierarchy and dynamics she created are so realistic. I enjoyed the ride in how the stray story motored its way through the book. The plot twists and turns were thrilling. Some were so shocking! I also appreciated the subtle clues Ms. Vincent left in the story to set up the next installments in the series. I can't wait!

  1. I've had Stray for years and still haven't read it. I must get on that soon, b/c I do enjoy adult UF.
    Thanks for the reviews!

    1. Oh, Andrea, I know you don't read a lot of UF but Stray is fantastic - as is the whole series. Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I love that you took notes. Your sidekick post was hilarious. I have Stray on my shelf. Maybe proximity will help speed things along and bump it up on the list. Seriously, I keep thinking that you took notes before you became a blogger. I barely take notes when I'm writing a book. No, that's not right, I jot down stuff on my hand. Not really the same ballpark.

    1. You will love it, Robyn! I hope you get to it sometime soon. About my taking notes...Robyn, I did major in English. It's my habit to take notes, highlights, sticky note and other nerdy things, while reading! LOL I didn't write notes on all books though - just the ones that made big impacts.

Sky writes notes on her hands, too. Oh, and Berk draws lovely pictures on hers. ;)

      *hugs*

  3. I love this! Great mini reviews. I have so many books that I read before blogging that I'd love to talk about as well. This is such a great way to do that. Um...been seeing a lot of Zane around lately...but in a book with a Jackie...hmm...Well, at least I don't like to be called that. That's a little weird right there LOL Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.

    1. Thanks, Jaclyn! This is something I've been wanting to do for awhile but haven't taken the time to do it. :) Yeah, Zane has become a popular name...didn't think about a Jackie being in this book too. That is kinda weird. Jax (my son's name) is becoming quite popular in books these days too. Who knew we chose names that would become trendy?!?
