The moment the demon King Thorne of the Third Realm set eyes on the mortal huntress Sable, he knew she was his fated one. The fiery, dangerous female awakened hungers he had never experienced before, a dark craving and passion that has consumed him in their time apart. As the lunar cycle wanes, she enters his world again and nothing will stand in the way of him claiming his forever with her - not the relentless assault from the Fifth Realm or the dark elf male determined to seduce her out of his grasp.

Intent on achieving the coveted position of commander at Archangel, Sable leads her small team into the dark underworld and the Third Realm, to a war where her allies are the very creatures she normally hunts - vampires, werewolves, and demons. Her eagerness to lead the deadly mission has everything to do with winning her promotion, and nothing to do with the kingdom's brash, lethally seductive demon king - a king who stirred fierce desire and wildfire heat in her with just a look and an innocent touch when they first met, and has been in her wicked dreams ever since.

As the gathering storm between rivals unleashes irresistible passion that flares white-hot and the heat of the battle brings life-shattering realisations, can Sable place her duty before her heart? Or will she surrender to her deepest desires and be claimed by a demon king?

Holy goodness! I think I enjoyed this second installment even more than the first!

Claimed by a Demon King reunites us with characters we've already met and introduces a few new ones. There are a few reasons I think it made more of an impression on me. One -- since Sable is a hunter for Archangel, she can fight. I love a heroine who kicks ass. Since she can fight, there was more action. More action made for more drama. Two -- Sable is strong-willed, hard-headed, and a smartass. This made for more fun because she always had a sharp barb, a smart comeback for every situation. This also meant the play between her and Thorne was more fun - AND set up for more steam between them. And three -- Thorne. I like this alpha demon. A. LOT. He knew he had his work cut out for him with Sable and he didn't shy away from the challenge. He also didn't go complete caveman on her. He observed and learned what it would take to win Sable -- then executed. Perfectly.

The conflict in this installment -- the battle for Thorne's kingdom -- placed multiple species together fighting for a common goal. Demons, vampires, werewolves, elves, and humans -- species that, in Heaton's world, don't always play well together. That upped the tension and made for exciting and sometimes humorous encounters. I'm anxious to see what Heaton has in store for all these alpha males!

  1. *sighs* I know I have to start this series soon, Brandee, but did you really have to make it so obvious? I love Heaton's stories, and seriously, the Eternal Mates sounds like I will love them in so many ways, too.
116 days, my dear, can you believe it? It's going to go so fast - poof - and we'll be sipping margaritas together in Texas ;)
I hope you've had a wonderful week! Mine has been busy, between studying for exams and substitute teaching I am amazed at how fast time has flown. by.
    *BIG HUGS*

  2. Sable is one of my favourite heroines in this series to date. I just love her snark, and badass-ness, but I'm still kinda peeved at her for picking Thorne over Bleu. I might C'MON!! Then again, I guess this just goes to prove that she's not good enough for the smexy dark elf. His time will come! Unfortunately, Heaton sure is making us wait for his story. I'm relieved that my recommendation didn't steer you wrong. I was stressing there!

  4. The moment you said smartass I was sold lol. I love characters like that! Probably because it reminds me of myself haha. Great review!

  5. Awesome! I liked some of Heaton's other works. I might have to give this series by her a shot. Thanks for the review!

  6. Woot!!! I'm so with you - I liked this one most so far! I loved #3, (have you read that yet?) but there's something about Sable and Thorne that just blew me away! Yay, so glad you're loving this series as much as I am!

  7. I see you have a countdown to RT - are you going this year? That'll be a ton of fun! The cover model is super hot, but his arm looks like it's wavy and rubbery, lol. You and Lexxie have introduced me to series I never would have looked at twice before, and I really love and thank you guys for that. This is one of those series I might have passed over. It sounds great!

  8. I think I told you I bought the first one, and I really want to read it so I just kind of skimmed your review. I am glad you are enjoying them so much :)

  9. Wowza I totally want to read this book now. I enjoy Felicity Heaton's books, they're fabulous. I also love heroins who can kick butt and that can give as good as she gets, so awesome. Alpha males are also ubber sexy. Great review Brandee I am totally adding this book to my tbr pile.

P.S. Totally jealous you can go to RT this year. I sadly am taking finals and graduating so I can't go. Hopefully next year. You're going to love it and make sure to bring an extra suitcase for your books lol.

  10. Wow! This sounds like a lot of fun! So many characters that you like. The world sounds incredible too... I know, I will try and fit it in!!
