Synopsis
Passion is blind in vengeance and love...
Ayden's suburban home was invaded by a pack of Lycans.
The brutal attack is the only memory she carries of her former life.
Now, one motive burns in her soul:
KILL. THEM. ALL.
The Sons of Wrath -- a brood of vengeance-dealing warrior demons -- band with Ayden to hunt the Lycans on Detroit's most deadly feeding grounds.
Kane Walker should've been her easiest kill.
Unfortunately, the newly bitten Lycan has something she wants -- clues that may finally lay her past to rest. To reach them, she must be willing to submit to the sensual pleasures awakened by his touch.
Time is running out.
In seven days, Kane will become what Ayden despises most. She can halt his transformation but the antidote requires the ultimate sacrifice. As the beast takes hold, Kane becomes more of a threat.
Ayden must choose between her lust for revenge, or surrender to her enemy and discover the horrible truth.
Sons of Wrath
Never gamble with vengeance.
Even after sitting and absorbing this incredible story, I still can't put all my feelings into words...
Soul Avenged is a book that made my adrenaline pump, turned my stomach, made my heart ache, and my soul soar. It's so very well written - a uniquely dark world filled with engaging characters. And the story drew me in - made me care for each of the characters. The way Ms. Lake wove together these intricate story threads around an overall plot arc created a riveting read.
My heart hurt for Ayden - so singularly focused on her revenge. She was so in need of someone to show her love in a way she'd accept.
My heart broke for Gavin. He wanted Ayden to be something she couldn't be. I felt like he knew this, deep down, but was too stubborn to let go of his desire. But he is such a good guy - as Ayden said. The love and loyalty he feels towards his brothers was proof of that.
Kane provided much needed comic relief - strange, considering he was facing certain death. I adored that he could maintain a sense of humor in the face of all he was suffering. I think maybe it was his smartass remarks that helped melt Ayden a little.
The other sons of Wrath, along with the Alexi soldiers and Gavin's house staff, rounded out an excellent cast. I know I'll be learning more and more as the story continues and I'm grateful for that. Well developed characters and amazing world building made for such a fascinating read. I am so glad I one-clicked this series.
It does sound fabulous, doesn't it? Dammit, my TBR pile is becoming something of a public hazard! :)
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you enjoyed this one! I love this series and it has an excellent cast of characters. I miss Ayden as we don't see as much of her in the later books, although she does make a few cameo appearances. Keri Lake knows how to create multiple plot lines and keep them all runnign while still wrapping up some at the end of each book. It's one of the things I love about her books, although it can be a bit overwhelming at times. And I agree with you the world building is amazing! Great review Brandee!
ReplyDeleteSo so happy you loved this! Isn't Gavin absolutely dreamy?! Oh and KLake is releasing a contemporary NA this year, you should NOT miss that!
ReplyDeleteI love when a book is dark and light and makes you feel. This sounds like something I would enjoy and I added it to my wishlist. Thanks Brandee.
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing so many good things about this author. I probably should check her out huh? Great Review!
ReplyDeleteI just looked, I own the book already and have since February 2014. And I think this might be the second time I have looked this up from a review and realized I already have it. Maybe somethings telling me to read the book already!
ReplyDeleteANOTHER one that I already have. And it's already on my kindle, which means it's way high up on my TBR ;) Now I just have to actually read it, LOL. Great review, Brandee! This sounds like exactly my kind of book--heavy enough to be stressful, but with just enough hilarity to keep you from being overwhelmed . . . Plus "KILL THEM ALL" was in the blurb, and you know how bloodthirsty I am . . . *snickers*
ReplyDeleteI have this one, too, Brandee! And if it made your stomach churn, your heart ache and your soul soar I know I should read it sooner rather than later. It looks amazing, and with lycans and a blood-thirsty MC I think I'll get my fill for adrenaline, too. Great review, my dear. *BIG HUGS*
ReplyDeleteSo this kinda reminds me of Underworld and that makes me want it ASAP! This sounds really great. Great review!

ReplyDelete*haha* I hope you get to read it sometime soon, Lorna. I think you'll like it And I don't think I have enough fingers to count the number of times I've thought "Oh, I *must* go one-click this book!" only to find out I've already one-clicked it. ;)
ReplyDeleteThis one will absolutely satisfy your bloodthirstiness, Jessica. That was one of the things that made it such a great read...the descriptions of all the gore! *ha*
ReplyDeleteOh, Soul Avenged really made me feel, Kimba. I hope you'll enjoy it, too, if you find time for it. :)
ReplyDeleteYES! Gavin - I can't wait for more Gavin, Braine. And she's releasing a contemp NA? Yeah, that'll go on my list for sure!
