Synopsis
This novella is the first in a series
My name is Monica. I'm a singer born and raised in Los Angeles. I've stopped dating. When I cut a record, or win a Grammy, maybe then I'll be with someone, but every man in my past has done everything he could to make me submit myself to him, and it's gotten in the way of my career. I won't do it again.
But there's Jonathan. He owns the high-rise hotel where I work, and he is gorgeous and charming. I refuse to fall in love with him, even though when he asks me to submit to him, I want nothing more.

I don't normally include buy links in my non-blog tour reviews, but Beg is currently **FREE** so I thought I'd make it easy on y'all! ;)
The Songs of Submission series, according to Ms. Reiss, is written like a t.v. serial. If I had started reading it when it was first released, I would have been waiting with bated breath for each new installment. As I waited until the series was complete, I now only have to juggle my review schedule to incorporate them. :)
There's something about Ms. Reiss' writing - the lush prose, the unique story - that drew me in immediately. I want to know all about Monica - her life, her musical talents, her heartbreaks - as well as Jonathan's.
Monica is driven, caring, loyal, talented, and emotionally closed off - at least to men. Jonathan is handsome, wealthy, dominant, and emotionally closed off as well.
These two individuals are drawn to one another like moths to flame but they each also avoid commitment like the plague. I'm extremely eager to see where their attraction is going to take them.
Honestly, I will read anything Ms. Reiss writes. She's that good!
Great review! I will definitely check out this book and the series!

ReplyDeleteGreat review, Brandee! This is another one that I've had forever, but not actually read. I mean, I know that this one at least had a really great rating, but still . . . I didn't know any of the people rating it, so it was on hold. Not any more! ;)
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this author before, but after reading your review, I didn't waste time and got the book for free. It's surely going to be one of my next reads!
ReplyDeleteI actually have this one and now I'm very excited to read it! I really enjoy the serials now, and this one looks so good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review!

ReplyDeleteCover Love!! So beautiful. I'm glad you loved it so much. It means so much when you find a book that you don't want to set down and just have to devour word for word. Jaclyn @ JC's Book Haven.
ReplyDeleteHehe! Sounds like you are hooked to this one Brandee! It is good that you can read all instalments at your own leasure, instead of hanging on for the next one. I am curious to see what you think of Monica and Jonathon next!
