Berls @Fantasy is More Fun and Michelle @Because Reading are hosting A Month of Giving Thanks. I thought it was a great idea as Thanksgiving is actually my favorite holiday and I'm grateful for so many things. I may not manage a post every day but I wanted to kick off the month right.

I'm so very thankful for so many things in my life - my health, my husband, kids, family, and friends. I'm thankful that I can live in my version of paradise here in the Rocky Mountains. I'm grateful for the ability to read! *ha*
But as this month winds down, I'm taking a page from Berls and Michelle and giving thanks for my blogging friends. I realize the month is almost over so I might have to cram a few together but it's the thought that counts, right?!? :) Let's see, I have EIGHT days left...so........

I have to give thanks for my friendship with Lexxie @Unconventional Book Views first. She really is the first person that I began conversing with regularly in the blogosphere. Our friendship started because we read and liked so many of the same books. And then, we talked and talked and realized we have sooo much in common. A beautiful friendship has blossomed. She's very kind and always has something positive to say. My blogging life is just richer because I've gotten to know Lexxie. We talk about everything, really. And that's why I'm so excited about the fact that I'm going to get to meet Lexxie, in person, at RT next May!! This is a big deal because Lexxie lives in Switzerland! I'm ecstatic that she's coming here. And I'm hoping to travel to see her in 2016. If y'all haven't met Lexxie, go check out her blog!

I'm also thankful to have "met" Jaclyn @JC's Book Haven. I met Jaclyn through Feature & Follow and we've gotten to be good friends. She's from Texas - and so am I. ;) And we have sons around the same age. We also happen to share a love for Harry Potter AND Percy Jackson! Even though Jaclyn and I don't always read the same genres (I branch out more than she does ;) she has introduced me to some books and authors. And I'm grateful for that. Jaclyn is a talented graphic artist (she may be talented non-graphically too but I've only seen her graphic art) and she has some fun features she does ~ Sidekick Showcase and Cover Scramble Sundays. Stop by Jaclyn's sometime!

With the last person I'm thankful for today, we're playing a kind of six degrees of separation....
I'm very thankful to have met Robyn Jones. I "met" her through Jaclyn, who was organizing a blog tour for Robyn. See, Robyn isn't only a blogger (@RobGirlBooks), she's also an author. And I'm a huge fan of her books. I think she's a very talented writer! :) So we started chatting online following that blog tour. We talked about kids and family and music and movies. And then I became a fan of Robyn, the girl...she's a fabulous mom, daughter, sister, and friend. One thing led to another, and Robyn invited me to lunch while we (my family and I) were in Washington on vacation. That was all she wrote...we talked for several hours (my family left us in the restaurant) - it was like we'd always known each other. We've visited one another a few times now...her dad happens to live about 30 minutes from me...and I talked Robyn into a crazy weekend where we went to the Emerald City Author Event - where we got a hotel room without screens on the windows AND we MET JA HUSS!!! (Robyn is also a Huss fangirl!) Oh, and we bet on football games, too. That's how our Rock Chick journey began. :) If y'all don't know Robyn, go have a chat. She may be a fan of fangs, but she won't bite. :)
Oh Brandee! Now, I'm all teary eyed and sappy! I love that we have met and become friends, too. And I truly can't wait to go to RT in Dallas next year so we can meet 'for real'! I told my mom about my upcoming trip, and she thinks it's so great that we'll get to hang out in real life after chatting online for a couple of years.
ReplyDeleteBoth Jaclyn and Robyn are amazing, and I think the fact that Berls and Michelle have hosted this amazing month of giving thanks is great, too! Next year, I'm going to make sure I'll participate as well. It's so nice to read these posts, and it makes me thankful to be part of such a wonderful online community.
I hope you're having a great weekend. I'm sad it's almost over... tomorrow I'm driving my mom to the airport, as she's going back home again. But at least, we've been able to spend four really good days together :)
*BIG HUGS*
So sweet! What would we do without the kindred souls we meet through the blogosphere? So you're headed to Switzerland in 2016?!?! Wow! Sounds awesome! Slightly jealous, but I have to get to Chicago in 2016 so me and Michelle can finally meet (BEA).
ReplyDeleteMy family is excited that we're going to get to meet for *real* too, Lexxie. Just thinking about it still makes me giddy. And yes, we are so lucky to be a part of such a wonderful blogging community. *sigh*
ReplyDeleteI have had a good weekend so far. I'm sad it's almost over too. We went to a musical and out for dinner today for Berk's bday. We head to Texas on Monday to celebrate Thanksgiving. I'm so glad you got to spend some quality time with your mom. I know you miss her. Hopefully you'll get to see her again soon. **BIG HUGS**
YES - kindred souls!! That's what we all are! <3 Well, I'm headed to Europe in 2016 - that's what my oldest wants as a graduation gift. GAH!! That'll be here sooner than I'll be ready for. I'm glad you're going to Chicago and meeting Michelle. :)
ReplyDeleteA musical, eh? Sounds really nice! We went to a free sound and light show at my uni yesterday, it was amazing! I've posted three short videos of it in my Sunday post...
ReplyDeleteDrive carefully, and have a great Thanksgiving in Texas with your family! *BIG HUGS*
Yay!! I am glad to know Lexie too! I think the three of us have similar interests and I love to visit her blog too! I am super jealous you guys are getting to meet next year, and hope I can get to meet you both one day!!
ReplyDeleteNaomi @ Nomi’s Paranormal Palace
Oh, Naomi, you, Lexxie and I are definitely quite the trio! ;) I'm so stoked to get to meet her, I can't even tell you. And I really, really hope to get to meet you someday SOON!!
ReplyDeleteAwwe YAY! We truly have met some amazing blogger friends and I adore that no matter how different we are, we all have those little things that can bring us together to talk about. I think it's fantastic that you got to meet Robyn in person. I bet you ladies had so much fun! Zane knows each of you by name as well because I read your comments and posts to him. We are gearing up for Thanksgiving right now. Cleaning the house up and I'm making the dreaded run to the grocery store today to fill up on ingredients of all those Thanksgiving Day meals. I have my family coming in from Oklahoma so I'm very excited. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteYou are total awesome sauce, Brandee! It's so crazy how we became friends. I have to remind myself it all started with a book tour. I sometimes forget I'm an author, but I never forget how lucky I am to have met you. We have many more adventures to come! And you are so right about the coolness that is Jaclyn and Lexxie. I think it comes down to book bloggers rock the planet. Wasn't that lunch so neat? I remember emailing you after you posted that you'd be in WA and asking if you wanted to catch a meal.
ReplyDeleteIt is wonderful, Jaclyn. And just like with *real life* friends, there is something in each blogging friend that bonds us. I hope your Thanksgiving was marvelous! I'm sure everything went smoothly and there was lots of food and love going around. My Thanksgiving was like that. It was nice to be with my family this year. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is crazy how we became friends! I love how Sky put it - that we didn't know each other and then BOOM, we're besties. :) We do have so many more adventures in store. I can't wait, honestly. And that lunch...yeah, it rocked. I remember that you'd come here to visit your dad but I didn't figure I knew you well enough to ask if you'd want to meet at that point. When I blogged about our upcoming trip to WA, I was thrilled that you asked about meeting because I really wanted to, but I was too afraid you'd think I was a stalker or something. *haha* Look at us now! That lunch was one of the best lunches of my life! But I think the best is yet to come for us.... <3
